Meet ups anymore?

Hey guys was part of the act club about 6 years ago and used to always go to the meets.

I'm back in an mr2 now and seems like the meets have died off.

Does anyone meet up anymore or better yet does anyone feel like a meet up/cruise at some point?

Cheers,
Drew

I blew a piston, so I'll be off loading my MR2 to someone who wants to buy a car to rebuild themselves or swap the engine on. So I won't be going on any more MR2 cruises :(

    Hi Ryu
The ACT club of old (this was when we had the nationals in ACT) seems to be out of action for a while.
Try to get into contact with dutchyvandongen he's been trying to organise or re organise some sort of events for ACT MR2 owners but i'm not sure how far he got.

I haven't heard from him in a while and since he's a army guy he might be overseas.

Of course if you are keen, any of the ACT guys are welcome to come on any of runs held by the Sydney MR2 club The next run we are having is on the 27th of October and will be heading down bowral area if you are interested.

There seems to be a fair few MR2s in Canberra, not sure how many are active on this board though

I am selling my beloved Spyder, let me know if anyone has any questions.

The ACT club was quite active about 10 years ago. 2004 was when I first joined the club. We used to have monthly runs for over 4 years. Most of the club members have sold their MR2s, moved interstates, moved overseas, made babies and ended up with family cars.

I'm considering to get an MR2 so that I can go to MR2 nationals in Tas.

As mentioned above, I still have mine to offload if you feel like doing an engine rebuild or swap :)

Seems SW20's as enthuiast cars are no longer a huge following, or at least in ACT. They are seen everywhere but few care enough to organise and meet other owners.

I like to keep in touch with any AW11 owners in ACT but even then there are a few around that would rather not bother with club activities. Each to their own I guess.

Canberra predominately has the Canberra Celica Group, which is an informal but highly active open group for anyone with a Toyota to join. They are very welcoming and friendly bunch of young and old members.

If there ever was enough people to restart an ACT section of the MR2 club, I'd suggest they keep the CCG in mind when it comes to events etc. A lot of info sharing would help keep ACT numbers high.
My life has changed quite a bit since I bought my AW11 so I don't have a lot of time anymore, but once it's back on the road I'd be keen to attend cruises/events when I can. I'd even be interested in NSW events every once in a while.

Salem: sad to hear about your engine. I've pulled apart mine myself with no prior experience doing so, and am getting a helping hand for tools etc. when needed. All info was obtained via the BGB and asking questions when needed, a few of the guys on here have been a huge help with questions and others just purely inspiration. If I ever wanted an SW20 it would definitely be a black one, but i'm always short on cash these days otherwise I'd have a chat to you about yours.

Sorry to hear Salem but I'm looking for something that requires less attention.

Maj - I agree. ACT MR2 Club used to affiliate with CCG. Mitch and Phil often invited us to their club events like Dyno days and Shannons show n shine events. Club is quite successful due to their dedication.

I'm not a club member but I do run a informal trackday at Wakefield in January which all the ACT guys are welcome to join in. There are guys from Tasmania, Qld, Vic,ACT and NSW who came along this year and will be there in 2014. We had 23 last year with most being MR2's. Expect to see 30+ in 2014.
I also go to Wakefield for Speed of the Streets days and some competition events with a few of the NSW guys. You guys should join us in the future.

    Cheers
