GEN3 3SGTE hose from hell metal pipes - help needed
Hey everyone, I've yet again done something weird and built a frankenstein engine for my GT4. It has a gen4 3SGTE block, gen3 3SGTE head, and 5S crank.
I'm struggling to figure out the pipework for the oil cooler and hoses from hell.
The one under the thermostat is solved - I used a gen 4 OEM hose.
The one under the exhaust manifold is a problem though. The location and shape of it looks good as per the gen 4 OEM hose (which is straight, whereas the gen 3 OEM hose is bent), though the diameter of the pipe connected to the block is larger than the diameter of the pipe on the oil cooler. The gen4 OEM hose has the same ID on both ends of the hose and won't fit the pipe on the block.
My theory is that the metal pipes that go under the exhaust manifold are gen3.
If any of you have easy access to a gen3 pipe or a gen3 oil cooler, can you please measure the OD of both and let me know what it is?
I want to know what I am working with before I decide on which path to take. My options are -
- Find a reducer pipe that will fit from another car (assuming that one exists)
- Change the metal pipes to gen4 (assuming the gen4 pipes will match the gen4 oil cooler pipe OD). This option will be a lot harder because the engine is in the car
Thanks in advance!
