Freight/Postage/Courier Options
What are the options for posting large items interstate besides Australia Post? Maybe if there is a good response to this post it can be made a sticky? Thanks.

I've used e-go numerous times and had no issues. Quite often cheaper then Australia post and can ship bigger things (ie, engines etc if you palletize them).

I have used www.interparcel.com.au many times have found they only charge bout $5 extra than if you had accounts with couriers.. they give you instant quotes for multiple courier companies an can pay via PayPal which makes it easier also not limited to size an weight like aus post..

I often use e-go, and I use their "depot-to-door" option, because they have a depot near where I work, and you save something like 25% of the shipping cost by taking the item to a depot.

Only problem with E-go is when something does go wrong, they are useless.

Yes, usually reliable but when you need to speak to them there is no phone number. Cheapest though, some of their delivery people are dumb. Nothing like waking up after a night shift to find items stacked up against your front door fly screen - and not being able to get out of your own house to the front yard...

Just chosen Realtime Express Couriers as they have depot to depot service which is 50% cheaper. Was still expensive due to the actual size of the parcel but a lot less than everyone else. Will let you all know how it goes.

I hear you dylmrt, the advantage of me using Realtime is their depot is in Wollongong where I live. Saves me a trip up to Sydney like the rest of the freight companies.

Update on Realtime Express, I won't be using these guys again. Had a dash freighted from Tassie to NSW amd when it got here it looked like it had been in a MMA fight. Waste of a perfect condition dash as now its all broken and almost impossible to fix and very expensive to repair :-(

SAW recently shipped his transmission to me via Interparcel who used TNT for pallet road freight. Being in Bunbury WA we were going to have to pay something like an extra $280 for E-Go courier to drive a tail-lift truck all the way down from Perth, ridiculous. TNT tail lift truck was included, but funnily enough they didn't send one out to his place. Since the transmission was a two man lift it wasn't an issue though. It arrived at my door 7 business days later and was fully unloaded by the driver. Not counting the tail-lift debacle with E-Go it was still around $30 cheaper. Transmission was loaded on a skid (half pallet), had a few extra goodies attached and everything arrived in the same condition it was packed in. Wasn't shrink wrapped or anything either, just secured to the skid.

I've sent many things with E-Go, but it seems for pallet pickup/delivery outside the depot, it's cheaper to go with someone else :P
