One main person comes to mind....

As with most workshops around now, I think they are closed for the Holidays and may have a bit on in the new year

Tristan looked a bit different last time I saw him....

Yep, Tristan at WTF Auto (kelmscott) or Tony Flood (Welshpool) are the only 2 places that I am aware of that know MR2s inside out.

    Cheers

WA doesn't have a requirement for yearly road worthiness checks.  Although you will need it to be checked over when you swap rego to WA, this is done by one of the transport inspection stations.  As far as I know, workshops can not do this like they can over east.

Once you have done this, you will only need it reinspect it if your car gets a defect put on it.

    Cheers

Have you owned the car for more than a year?
Is it currently registered in the state that you're living in?
Has it been registered in the state that you're living in for more than a year?

If the answer to all 3 is; yes, then all you need to do is get WA plates from the department of transport.
    No inspection necessary.

And yes, WTF Auto, and Tony Flood are the people to see... :)

Fantastic. I can answer yes on all 3 counts. :)
I was a little worried whether or not my KO R1 Exhaust would make it through an inspection, even with the silencer installed and a cat welded in.
Great news, piece of cake. Hope WTF Auto is good - I've been getting reamed by 'MR2 specialists' in Victoria so far. I do most of my work anyway but having a proper mechanic look over my work is good piece of mind. :)

Do you WA lot go on many cruises? Are there some good 'driving' roads over there?
I haven't attended any Vic cruises because they're few and far between...

Yep loads of good driving roads over here.
I organised one cruise and only one other MR2 turned up, but we had 4 on the last one which chase_d organised.
They might start to be fairly regular.
I also organise track days fairly regularly, so when you get over here keep your eye on the WA section.

Hi guys this is my first post so hello!

After reading this thread I took my MR2 to WTF Autos, absolutely freakin useless. The car actually belongs to my parents in their 60s, they have had it for 20 years and it is mint original. My brother managed to blow the engine up when they lent it to him.

It had been off the road for 4/5 years so I decided to get it sorted for a surprise xmas present to them. I was charged $6000 for an engine transplant which when I got it back wouldnt idle properly and leaked water. I asked them to sort the brakes as they needed replacing and also to fix a knock in the front end somewhere. They didnt do either of these things. I was told they prided themselves on keeping the customer in the loop yet never received another call after the quote to fix it, was always me ringing them and being told I was just about to ring you.

I took it to my local mechanic who fixed the idle in about 10 mins despite being told by WTF I needed new throttle body with some idle thing attached to it. He fixed the water leaks and did the brakes etc for me too. The knock in the front they couldnt find was a loose strut and again fixed within minutes. If i didnt live over an hour away from WTF I would of taken it back. Be warned people, they are not the experts they make themsleves out to be!

^ you are absolutely correct, when my old 3SGTE died the car sat at WTF for 10 days without being comp. tested, have heard stories of wool pulling from a fair few other people in the last couple of months 11.749201/10 would not recommend... Ever. Would however recommend C-Red!

The original recommendations were over 2 years ago, and unfortunately things can change and so can the staff there.
I've had it happen before where a place was excellent, then the ownership changed, and the staff changed, and it all went downhill from there.
