Toll Shipping is another option to get your car into Tassie (Burnie). They do take passengers aswell from what I've been told.

Yep they sure do. Picked up my brothers caldina for him a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how they compare price wise with TT Line.

My gf's identical twin works on the spirit of Tasmania. Will ask her if they do deals for groups (she got us free upgrades on the way over but nothing for the car) No harm in asking and she will know the ins and outs.

Toll ferry can sometimes be a better deal than SoT. For me there is another benefit to using them - I HATE boats, and can turn 17 shades of green just looking at a picture of a boat. My option is to put the car onto Toll, then catch Rex Air from Melbourne to Burnie, either that afternoon (staying in Burnie) or the next morning ( and overnight in Melbourne). I'm pencilling this in now.

never looked into toll... but it only cost me a grand to ship the car from gold coast to launceston a while back... and its costing $500 from devonport to melbourne at the end of january for my gf and i.... i can see how Toll might work out better if their schedule lined up ok... not stopping on king island or something... edit: contacted toll yesterday. Still waiting on definate prices BUT, the ship melbourne to burnie and it costs about $120 per metre (so about $500 each way for an MR2)... this MAY be reimbursable against the freight/bass strait equalisation scheme...if you could find and be bothered filling out the paperwork...

I'm definitely keen for this, should be good fun:) Just to let you know tho if you book Spirit of Tas and are a light sleeper like me I would advise you to get a cabin... I only had the option of ocean recliner when I picked my car up from melbourne and thought it couldn't be too bad but I didn't sleep a single min, was surrounded by fat people snoring and the vibration of the engines below was pretty intense! Not the best but I guess some people would be fine with it. Anyways keep us posted with any updates on this, I'm in Hobart and happy to help out if needed

I hope this happens and would definitely be in, if it goes ahead. I doubt if the trip across would bother me.

To the people involved in organising the MR2 Nationals 2013 we need to get together by email (that is off Forum) to get things rolling. Please PM me with your personal email address and I'll put together an MR2 Nationals 2013 email list. Before the end of 2012 I would like locked in: 1. the location 2. the date 3. a preferred Motel, close to alternate cheaper accommodation e.g. Camp ground/onsite cabins/etc. and 4. a program of events for the three days. Cheers, Kevin
