New To Me SW20 - Wonder If The Original Owner Still Lurks...

So after selling my Honda Civic FN2, I had two choices of SW20 that I was really between, and they couldn't have been any more different.
Either an stock Gen3 NA, or a modified Gen1.
Due to various reasons, I ended up with the modified one, mainly down to being a local car.

So, this is my new baby (pics below):
1990 Toyota SW20 MR2 (import)
1MZ V6
E153 LSD gearbox
GReddy front and sides
Apexi Exhaust
BC Racing Gold coilovers
Shaved side indicators
Supporting mods for engine such as injectors and fuel pump, etc.
Fully engineered as it sits.

Absolutely love the car and the sound. And while certainly a fair bit different to my old Gen3 NA I used to own, this gives me the feeling that I have been missing, and sounds better.

Definitely some things to sort on it, but nothing I'm overly stressed about at this time.

Hope to see you out on the road!

Congrats on finding the right SW20. Do you have any future upgrades planned? Are you on the northside of Brissy?

Upgrades wise, nothing fully planned just yet...right now I just want to sort the small issues.
Then I do want to get rid of the RP02 wheels as I much prefer RPF01s.
Likely add the GReddy rear bar because I prefer continuity throughout.
Otherwise I am happy with the power so far.

Yeah I am on the Redcliffe peninsula.

    Ah I know that pain!
It has had a few owners in its life.
The guy I got it off fairly recently swapped his Jimny for it from the owner who would have had it when you must have tried...so maybe that's why he took it offline, because he was swapping for a car he wanted.

The car walked straight through a roadworthy yesterday which is always a great sign, with the inspector saying it drove great (already know that haha).
Next up is to have a few minor pressure dents removed, and tint the windows/targa tops, and do the exterior and interior protections (perks of where I work, get it all very cheap).

I also need to stop gunning it everywhere...the way I am driving it is sucking the fuel down, but the sound and torque is intoxicating!

I'm sure you would get a few up there.  I know 1 person who moved up there from Sydney a couple of years ago.  He is now selling his ZZ due to the MR2 community having fallen off the radar.  It used to have lots going on, but I don't think it recovered after Covid.

    Congratulations of your fun purchase.

Do you know about the 40th anniversary in Victoria later this year?  I think there are a couple of guys heading down from QLD.

I didn't know of that at all...unfortunately probably a bit too short notice for me as I just started a new position but I appreciate you mentioning it!
Yes, the community seems to be far too quiet now...it used to be very active when I was based out of Coffs Harbor, NSW.
Some of the best fun was the meets and road trips back in the day...

NSW has gone very quiet very quiet too, unfortunately.
They have a monthly meet up in Canberra.  Sometimes only a couple, but at least Anthony arranges the meet.
