March Event - Blue Mountains Run to Megalong Valley Tea Rooms

Hi all,

It's autumn already and a great time to go on another drive to the Blue Mountains on Sunday 29th March.  With the recent rain the mountains are becoming greener again after the bush fires, so it's a great time to view the scenery.

Meeting at McDonald's M4 West Bound, for a 10am departure.  We'll head up the M4 & possibly pull over to stretch our legs at Wentworth Falls Look out or Three Sisters at Katoomba.  It's a great part of our country

Meeting point: McDonald's twin servo's Eastern Creek - West Bound  https://goo.gl/maps/QGuKHFj2J4M2
Meeting date: Sunday 29th March, 2020
Meeting time: 9.30am for a 10am departure
Route Lunch Location:  Megalong Valley Tea Rooms  https://goo.gl/maps/mdofbWFPeLEqXh5CA
We hope to see you there!

On another topic,
Membership is overdue for renewal.  Thank you to those of you who have already sent your forms & $30.  And we understand that sometimes things can be put in a to do folder & missed.  Hence the reminder :)

The club is entirely run by volunteers. Membership fees help the club cover CAMS "Sporting Car Club" affiliation and insurance as well as website maintenance. If you haven't renewed and you rely on membership for CAMS eligibility your license may be at risk of not being honored at race events. The fees are used by the club entirely for the benefit of the members.

    Hi All,

It is with regret that the Committee has decided to cancel the Blue Mountains run scheduled for March 29th. The decision has been made with regard to recent government guidelines surrounding the hosting of events in general and social distancing because of the increase in COVID-19 cases. Whilst the club maintains small numbers for these events, it is best practice to ensure that any non-essential events are cancelled or postponed to reduce any possibilities of the virus spreading. The club was hoping to give back to fire damaged communities in the Blue Mountains region but if there is any risk that this event may increase the infection rate (no matter how small) it is the clubs obligation to its members and the community to cancel this event.

Due to the nature of Australia's climbing rate of COVID-19 cases and the Governments rules on social gatherings, the club cannot say for certain if the proposed April 2020 event will proceed. The Committee will re-assess each month to determine if it is acceptable to host an event and advise all our members via e-mail/facebook/forum. We apologise to all our members for canceling this event and understand that many may have been looking forward to this drive. In light of all the recent media surrounding the COVID-19 virus and government guidelines the club wishes to share some important points with everyone:

-Avoid social gatherings of large crowds
-Was your hands frequently (soap breaks down the virus), washing the MR2 will also help
-Practice social distancing of maintaining 1.5m away from others
-Avoid panic purchasing of goods from supermarkets
-Help those more at risk in our communities where possible

Myself and the Committee look forward to catching up with everyone once the guidelines and infection rates have decreased and hope everyone is safe and healthy.

    Many Thanks,
    Matthew Freestone
