With the help of Danny, Rob, Amy and Ben, I got the engine bolted in over the weekend Fidanza flywheel installed with Exedy Cushioned 8 puck button clutch Rebuilt gen 3 box with Kaaz 1.5 way lsd shown in the bottom I made up a heat shield to cover the clutch lines using some 3mm aluminium. I wrapped it in some gold heat reflective tape (not shown) Engine placed on two dolly boards to make maneuvering easier And bam, it is hanging in the car now! Cant believe it honestly, it went in so easily. easier than it was to put the 3sge. So now comes the fiddly bits with fuel lines and wiring, hopefully have the manifolds soon and I can put it all together! Also did the club run on sunday, Took the girlfriends AW11. Great run and some great roads (some were a little bumpy though...) I will have to get Erin to post a build thread up on here soon!

No more pictures yet sorry, just a wall of text
TLDR; Exhaust shop delayed my build even further
all was going well until the headers became an issue. The shop kept telling me "next week we will start" and "we have made a start but next week"
After a month of this it was discovered they hadn't even looked at it. So it was taken away from them.
I have now ordered gouky headers and had them air frieghted from the US, I should hopefully have them on wednesday.
A local and reputable tuning shop has guarenteed me the Y pipe in less than 2 business days from when I bring the car to them. They are also making an intake pipe up for me.
My Ecu guy is too busy at the moment to do the new wiring setup so Charlie has hooked me up with a standard loom and put me onto a friend of his to modify it for me.
basically it looks like everything will be coming back to me in a fortnight. Then I can start it. So Excitied!!

So close now its not funny, Been a month since I posted last.... how time flies! I found another workshop locally to me, and wow am i impressed. they did all the fab work in 4 days (including making a second steel y pipe for a friend) I also bought a set of gouky headers. Their quality is exceptional. This is my Y Pipe. Made out of stainless, i made sure they got the merge to flow as best as possible. Piping is 2 inch from the headers (headers are like 2.15 or so at the collectors) into a 2.5 inch trumpet, 100cel bullet cat and then into a 3 inch twin exhaust system with 4 inch tips. I bought the exhaust off a mate but it needed serious modification to work, the shop re did the back of the exhaust for me as well. and they used these awesome flex join! I had some bungs welded into the system later for the 02 sensors but they arent pictured here. They also made me an intake pipe and MAF sensor adaptor. I later had a air recirculation nipple welded onto the end closest to the throttle body. Car now has 90% of the stuff done required to start. Once I get the loom and electronics, its a matter of installing the pedal, wiring, priming the engine and turning the key! List is growing smaller and my excitement is building. I should have it driving by the end of the week :) More to come soon!

I havent kept track or added up because i dont want to know.
I have had a lot of people tell me "oh but i could do this swap for 6k" or "nah only 10k"
I guarantee you will spend more than you first imagine. And i have done 90 percent of the work myself. If i had paid a shop to do this it would have cost me close to 10-15k in labor.
This is not a swap for those that cant do complex mechanical work competently.
Im not that great, but if it wasnt for the boys from the qld club (yes doug you are one of the boys too) i wouldnt have been able to do this

That's a fair point. Your statement about how you have to be mechanically minded is one reason I don't think I'll ever do the swap. Just too big of a project for me to tackle at once I think.
No issue though, there's always the snail-powered 3S-GTE

Thanks Eric. I'm as keen as anyone to see you achieve this quite significant swap and get to the very best MR2 event in the country. MTC 2016. Love your outlook on the dollars spent. I wish people would look at the final product of all the work. CONGRATULATIONS. And thank you for lending bits and pieces to me for my half cut conversion! Cheers Doug.
