The action shot down the straight is cool. New rims are very nice, good pick up.

The next stage... 2015/03/23 19:35:39 (permalink)

bit of a flash back to when I first got the car. cant believe I've owned it for more than three years now....

Not sure when the next track day is, probably next month!

I had the car on a brake dyno today to measure the stopping power. It's essentially two rollers on the ground that spin at a defined speed and measures the resistance the car can apply, it maxed out the dyno with the new setup. very impressed

Well after 9 months of searching and saving, my 2GR arrived today

Got it home and on the stand. cannot believe how big it is!

It's out of a 2011 aurion with only 40,000klms. Cannot wait to get some work done on it!

Replacement VVTi and Oil Cooler lines (common service fault)
Aurion supported shaft (modified)

Been getting some bits in the mail lately, thought I may as well share.

So pretty.....

Engine mounts thanks to mrmr2

Started test fitting things - engine mount needs some clearancing done

I also went to the drags recently to see how the NA would do before the swap. ended up racing another NA sw20 which is why I was looking to the left so much :P

Best time was a 16.101 - what I was expecting so was pleased in that regard

Well after an eventful couple of weeks I just made it to the track.

last week my alternator died and I quickly had to source a replacement.
Thanks to Essdub for the help :)

Got it in and decided to get a baseline dyno run so I know how much power I am starting with.

Very Happy with the result. Exactly what I expected

Made it to the track day and had a blasted!
Locked my keys in the car at the track too.... that was embarassing. thankfully rob came to the rescue with his handy coat hanger :P

Also went for a cross country excursion at 100km/h - I would not recommend doing this. there is so much sand in and arround my car now

drove home and the next day it started.

and 3 hours later it was done...... I have done way too many of these engine swaps lately haha

And now the fun begins.... Hopefully I will have the 2gr bolted up by november and then the electrical stuff starts....

I was meant to ask to tag along the ripping out the 3G, but awesome to see it coming along.

How much did that dyno test cost you? I'm keen to get mine tested out to make sure I'm back at peak power after my o2/dizzy replacement

Two questions Eric, what are you doing for a box?

And, looks like you've got the rear hubs sitting on axle stands, what's happening there? Close up?

Trey - 88 dollars

Kris - was using the axle stand to support the breaker bar whilst undoing the hub.

Gearbox will be camry internals inside mr2 e153 centre housing with camry bellhousing. Need the longer ratios for the power
