Well my trip to MTC was nothing short of an adventure. Wasn't really a holiday but I still had a great time.
Long post ahead:
I left last friday night for lismore with Erin and we got to her mums place no drama. saturday we continued our drive down to sydney.
About 40kms out of taree the alternator died. I called RACQ and they said they could tow me the rest of the way to Aarons place. Sunday Robk came over to have a look at my wiring with us and we found nothing wrong. Steve said he had an alternator in his racecar that I could use if I got desparate.
We made a trip to super cheap and I bought the biggest battery I could find. With everything disconected bar the ECU Erin and i drove two hours straight to Wakefield park. I was pretty nervous that it would die.
We got to wakefield and I was battery swapping with Aaron and Mikey. When i came in with a dead battery we would swap so they could charge it for me during their laps.

I got to do some awesome launches on the hillclimb stage. For the past week i have been curious to see how well it would do a skid (bogan, I know) and know I know that it does a pretty good one ;) The low down torque on the hillclimb was excellent, but my driving was very conservative as I hadn't really driven the car with the motor in and still wanted to make it home
That night Geoff Fear, Paul Brell, Erin, Tim and I tried to remove Steves alternator. Unfortunately Steves roll cage goes into the engine bay which means we would nearly have to drop the engine to get it out. So we bailed on that plan.
The next morning Geoff called some wreckers in town and they said they could have an alternator by wednesday morning. Great! I would be able to get home.
I proceeded to get the car ready. I had to reinstall the alternator as I had removed it so that we could fit Steves.
We also found what killed the alternator. I had extended the wiring to the oxygen sensors and the zip ties holding it in place had either melted or snapped off and the wiring had melted to the exhaust, shorted out the circuitry and blown the regulator.
Took Kazumasa out for some passenger laps to show him 2GR power and I think he is converted now. Then the car overheated due to air in the system. I hadn't filled up the overflow enough by the looks of it and it sucked in air.

I really really wanted to make the hot lap shoot out. I wanted to better my time than last year. Charlie and i rushed to get the coolant re bled and I swapped in another half charged battery. I pushed the car to the starting grid. As I would be running my fans on full blast for this lap, the battery would last 5 minutes roughly.
I went out and did my warm up before going flat out for one lap. With voltage dropping, no oxygen sensors and missing due to voltage (and a crap driver) I ran a 1.16.78 - 6 seconds faster than last year!
Was absolutely stoked by this. I know that there is a 1.10~ in the car, I just have to grow a set and push the car more, and make sure my alternator works.
Had celebratory drinks that night and the next morning I got up early to remove my alternator so that Erin and I could go have an actual holiday.
I got the wreckers that morning only to be told that "the truck driver was sick so we didnt get the alternator"
Great. put car back together and charged up the battery and headed back to aarons. It died about 30 mins from home so we shuffled batteries on the motorway and made it back.
Thursday night Aaron and I went to Iains place to go steal his 2gr's alternator. Unfortunately the plug on the alternator had been snapped off in shipping......
Was ready to fly home on friday until Peter managed to find an alternator! Picked it up and we drove to Peters place to use the hoist to install it.
Long story short the car worked and got me home.
I couldn't have done this without everyone's help. it hasn't been an easy journey but I did it. I was ready to give up so many times but I persisted. I really couldn't have done it without Erin.
Anyway, Now I get to fix some wiring and other small things and just enjoy the car. No more mods for now, just more seat time.
Cheers
