Re: Bumblebee (another NA -> turbo conversion)

I went over my wiring again today to see if I made any mistakes which it seems I haven't. I changed out the EFI relay and the Circuit Opening Relay to see if there was something faulty in them. The new COR which came from a Gen 3 turbo did in fact help and increased the longevity of the fuse though it still blew like the rest. I ended up throwing in a 20amp fuse to see if I could pull a code but alas nothing.
Since then I have worked out the issue and it was as simple as the Walbro pump's increase draw on the EFI circuit was more than the 15amp fuse could handle. Unplugging the O2 sensor has dropped the overall amperage across the circuit so that it runs the pump without blowing the EFI fuse. Oddly enough the added draw was making the engine run much hotter than normal and after fixing the issue and having the engine back running nicely on the 15amp fuse, the engine temperature was reduced considerably to the point where you can leave your hand on the intake manifold without burning it.

Thought I'd throw this picture of the fuse up just for interest sakes. Goes to show that it is probably best to run a Walbro on its own circuit if wanting to retain sensors such as the O2 and Exhaust temp.

A small but significant update, today I finally got red SW blue slipped and registered. This has taken a total 3 weeks fighting with the RTA to prove I hadnt stolen the car and with blue slip places to get them to slip the car as both them and the RTA had very different ideas of what the rules and regulations were. Such a frustrating and tiring process it has been!
Nonetheless she is now on road and can happily say she will be making an appearance at the Christmas BBQ.

Does this mean that now you and your Dad both have an MR2 to bring along on the runs?

You got it! He has taken quite a liking to it so its considered his MR2 now. Plus he has wanted to get more involved with the Club anyway, I suppose he has no choice

Cheers. Unfortunately though the passenger side skirt fits horribly and has obviously come from a terrible mould. Also both skirts ground with the rear wheels when up in the air. Im hoping new suspension will solve this due to less droop but it looks like Ill either need to buy a new set of skirts that come from a much better mould or get a body shop to adjust the shape of them.

Whilst owning an MR2 brings much joy to one's life...let alone owning two. They equally bring just as much disappointment. The G-limited lasted all of a week before blowing what we think is the T-belt tensioner on it's journey home today. I suppose I was all to quick to say that it would be present at the Christmas BBQ this Sunday...that was a rookie error on my behalf. Knowing all too well what MR2s are like.
My only chance to attend this Sunday in a beloved MR2 is to try and get bumblebee back on the road as she currently has no suspension due to a kind donation to the G-limited. The rush is now ON!

Sorry to hear that, I hope it is easily resolved and hopefully you will still be able to make it in one of your MR2's.

Luckily its a non interference engine. It'll get there, could be worse.
