yeah, the green industrial looking valve is the solennoid. we have only ever used electronic valves, as they are only $180 extra.

redttarga claims to have saved his engine as well by installing the electric oil pump as there was metal on metal contact. Can't argue that all these mods contribute to engine longevity right?

Just to clarify my system mods.
I originally fitted an electric oil pump to prelube the system prior to cold startup
At a later stage it was then easy to fit an electronically controlled oil cooler setup totally independent from the main oiling system, enlarging the system capacity to 6 liters.

Can you provide me some info on this electric pump set up youve got going, I've not heard of this before.  I like the prelube idea.  How is it plumbed into the system and what is the flow of oil? Thanks.

Here's a brief description of the setup.
The electric oil pump takes oil from the bottom of the sump and pumps it to a 16 row cooler located under the car.  The return from the cooler goes back into the side of the sump.
There is an electronic unit connected to an oil temp sender, to switch on the pump when a set temp is reached. The capacity of the pump I am using is 8 liters /min.

Prelube is obtained by re-routing the oil from the pump to a sandwich plate via a 1/2 bar one way valve just prior to cold starting, with a separate switch used to switch the pump on, and giving about 40 PSI.

Dont think you'll have a problem Kris.  1 start a year doesn't constitute excessive wear ;)

Why not just use
Lucas heavy duty oil stabiliser
Prevents oil run off cylinder walls
It's really good stuff I use it
And it's not thick to decrease performance

Very good.

Or you could just use the oil the damn cars are designed to run on... 10W40 to 15W50....
15W50 in my 20V shuts the rattling of the VVT pulley up a bit and gives it a bit better oil pressure in the process.

I only ran it in the Na as it was a daily and I went to work in cold mornings
So it worked very well

Also I run 10-40 royal purple with 10-15 percent
Stabiliser and its great stuff
Easier starts quiter running and a little more pressure
:)
Didn't hurt it at all

I dunno whether you were being funny or thanking me for that idea

But if you didn't know about it
There one of te best oil companies around
And the stabiliser is very good
Drag cars use it
Tuners use it
Trucks use it

It just think it may be a far cheaper alternative :)

It eliminates cold starts and reduces cold start wear dramatically
:) worth a go
Just grab some and pour 200ml in and see how it goes

In my opinion, if your oil needed "stabiliser", the oil companies would put it in the oil to begin with. I'm sure the oil companies would love to add it to their oils as a big marketing tool and up the price, but I've yet to see it.
