Replaced front mud flaps this morning......they were easily done by turning the front wheels. Rear mud flaps however are a little more challenging........I will have to take wheels off to do this (they are too wide and I can't get the screwdriver in). Looks like I will be testing out my wheel changing equipment in the near future. The old rear mud flaps are still in reasonable condition so they can stay on for a bit longer - it was the old front ones that were all chewed up and bothered me

Replaced the rear "old" mud flaps with my new ones today.........thank you to > P E T E < who did a fantastic job in doing most (if not all) the hard work. He has now scored himself some 19 y.o. mud flaps (and fixings) that are still in reasonable condition, albeit a bit dirty :-) Nothing a good scrub and polish won't fix. This weekend I also picked up my brand new rubber door and targa roof seals.......can't wait to have these installed. Cheers, M

M, you are obviously a discerning person of great taste and motoring savvy. The Forum often carries stories about people selling their MR2 and buying something like an EVO or WRX ("I need the MR2 gone because in a fit of insanity I spent gazillions on a boy racermobile with go-faster stripes and chromed tow hooks") but to the best of my recollection your story about re-acquiring your previous car is a first. Congratulations on finding it again and I hope you keep it for a long time. Walter

Thank you tralfaz :-)
Fortunately, at this stage in my life I have sufficient income to support my fetish to keep my baby looking, and running, as pristine as possible.
I agree with your appraisal of those who stray from the MR2 path..........we must forgive the actions of the rash and insane as they know not what they do!! LOL
I intend to keep my baby as long as possible, aiming for the car to be around for another 20 years........I'll be the coolest granny around in 2034! Not sure where I am going to store my Zimmer frame though!??
Cheers, M

Thanks Dudeman,
They must have anticipated that old women will be driving MR2s in the future, when they designed this Zimmer frame :-)

Dudeman, the picture you posted is a bit too close to the truth. I am nearly 65 and already use walking aids sometimes because of my disability, but have not seen anything like this portable model that you have had experience with. Where did you get yours from? Walter

I am all excited........my baby is booked into Toyota hospital for rear suspension work on Monday (21/7/14)
Parts being replaced are: 1. Shock absorbers; 2. All bushes; 3. Lower ball joints; and 4. Wheel bearings.
Hoping this will fix my soggy, bouncy ride.......I will post an update when it is finished.
Cheers, M

Front page of my post has been updated! Wow! Doesn't new rear suspension make a difference??!! Replacing all the suspension bushes has totally fixed all the creaking in the suspension, and the car feels all perky, just like when it was new.......Awesome! I would also like to testify that the droning noise that I was told was the transmission shaft bearings, is actually wheel bearings. There is still a very faint drone, but the car is now 97% quieter than when I was repatriated with my baby in December 2012. Cheers, M

Droning noise? Obviously keep a close check on it, but it may possibly only be rear tyre noise. Some can be very noisy.

It is more a high pitch droning noise and it changes as I move through the gears. I suspect I will have to refurb the transmission at some point in time. But all the gears still engage well, and responsiveness on the clutch is still quite good too. I associate any constant low pitch drone to be tyre noise, but I don't have much of that anyway. Cheers, M

Front page of my post has been updated. Haven't had to do much to the baby in the last two years, apart from the regular minor service at Newtown Toyota every 10,000 kms. My baby has not missed a beat, and just keeps going!! I'm such a proud owner! Cheers, M
