Bottom line is: get a good mechanic to take a look and quote on what needs to be done. Get it done before you break something! btw: I use 15W50 Mobile 1 Good Luck! p.s. Any good tuners recommendations in Syd? I seriously need a tune too, she is running too bloody rich

I don't usually race, only raced once not consecutively. I did replace the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, spark leads when I got it 6000kms ago.
Anyway I am booked in for the tune on Tuesday, so there won't be anymore thrashing, well at the very least until then.

And I only found out the tune was bad once I talked to the owner before the guy I bought it off. And the boost is set to normal.

It has been replaced sometime in the past, because it is a Ryco one. I bought one when I first got the car and done the service, but gave up before I broke the brackets that hold it in place.

Your talking about the banjo fittings right They are a bitch to get off but be persistent you will be able to crack them I changed mine even tho it had just had a major service 15 xxx kms before hand I did it for peace of mind also dosnt hurt either. :p
Use a socket with a hollow bar on the end to get more leverage and it will be easy as. And for te top one go from the top either get someone below and above to help or use heaps of extensions and a bar to get leverage or take it to a mechanic even it's a 20 minute job if he knows what he's doing. It's only hard the first time ahah
That's probably a major part your issue Clogged fuel filter replace it I would suggest I just used a ryco one aswell they need to be changed probs every 20xxx kms, so once a year maybe earlier if you give it a hard time better to be safe then sorry and there only 20$
But when you do get it off clean the fuel off the outside and try and blow through it if you can't then it was badly clogged or if its easy too then it may have been fine Compare how easy it is to blow through to the brand new one. Also when I pulled mine off wasn't extremely hard to blow through but defo required force and the amount of dirty fuel that came out was a little disturbing.
Seemed to help the car run smoother and fuel consumption went down, performance and fuel pressure went up :)
So give that ago asap

I know which is why I bought a replacement one before I even got the car home for the first time lol.
Its not that that is bending, it's the actual part which the fuel filter sits in. It was bending a lot when I tried and my socket wrench extends out so I had a lot of leverage.

Trust me a meter long bar is a lot better then a 25 cm bar Try some freeze and release or some wd40 to loosen things up
I would replace that ASAP if it hasn't been done and looks old.
Blocked filters can cause a lot of damage to your fuel lines also if its letting crap into your engine aswell
Also puts excess strain on your fuel pump and that is a crap job to do You have to drop the fuel tank to get to it, and that would be a 3-5hour job for a mechanic so there's 4-500$ gone in labour all because you didn't replace a filter To crack my bolts took over an hour and over half a can of freeze and realease and wd40
I tightened the bracket up so it couldn't move around I eventually got it.
Just take it to a mechanic if you can't be bothered.

Okay, I will give it another go tomorrow after work, and while I am at work I will soak it in WD40 (aka magic lol). Hopefully that works because after paying for the tune next week I don't have any money to spare.
Did you see the thread I started not long ago asking about replacing the fuel pump? I don't think I want to do that when the fuel filter is a big enough pita haha. Although I stopped once I seen bending.
If I snap it tomorrow I will be sending you the bill!!!... Hahahaha just kidding.

Ahahah even if you snap it its just to hold it so it dosnt move about whilst driving if you break it make sure it's all tight but if your still worried take it out of the braket and use another bar or socket to wedge against something so it can't move ahah
Other then that zip ties work just aswell as a bracket :p
But if you do happen to break it I could probably find you another one if there's one in Australia I work in spares at toyota ahah :p and Ill get it for cheap
But yeah fuel pump is a whole nother pita
If mine needs replacing ill try and do it myself if that fails its going to a mechanic ahah probs to the guys at work for cheap rates :p
But I'd try it to learn. But yeah massive job apparently. I wouldn't bother with the fuel pump if its been built id say it has a different better pump in it especially if it has different Larger Injectors Also wouldn't bother until these issues have been sorted Fuel pumps good ones aren't cheap and nor is the labour if you can't manage it yourself
Especially since you may have a clogged/dirty filter :p
Not saying this will fix everything but if it looks old and it hasn't been replaced in quite a while chances are its clogged And will help your car plenty especially the rough idle/start issues

Yeah definitely not touching it until the car is running right, but the fuel pump and injectors are stock, that was what I was holding the tune off for.
That's a good job to have when you drive an old Toyota haha.
I just got the fuel filter out from the bottom of my parts. I will let you know if I have to use cable ties to hold it in or I got the new one in lol. Thanks for the help.

All is good man Yeah haven't had to replace anything yet Thank god except injector o rings but that's my stupid fault ahah
Just got a genuine gear boot and surround one of the last in aus for 49$ instead of 110$ retail Came today looks good do prefer the leather one I had but it didn't fit so at least this is genuine and fits all snug. All In all I'm happy.
But yeah don't break anything on purpose just wedge it against the firewall or the block if you have to you won't break those and dosnt matter if you damage the filter it's coming out anyway, You'll be able to get it just get yourself a nice long bar like I said and it will be easy

Let me guess, when you put the injectors in you damaged the o rings?
Oooooh I was going to ask about the gear stick surround in the last post. It's the one thing inside the car that drives me nuts, ad that was before I pulled out a gauge from it leaving a empty hole and snapped it again today. And no one has one second hand intact. I got a new boot, knob and short shifter too. Do you know if there is any left?
