Yeh, didnt take too long for the first one, the mounts are slightly different from an ae86 and my dad had an old mount so we modified that to fit, after using it for a week it wasnt positioned right and felt a bit flimsy. So this weekend we put together a nice strong mount out of box tube and 5mm steel, soo much better

Latest update for the car is that ive started an engine rebuild. The car has been blowing smoke for a while, we did the valve stem seals first which didnt fix the problem. Had the car at sandown and after one session it developed a rattle and seemed to loose power. Managed to limp it home doing 80kph, been sending free time since then taking it apart and getting things checked out. Found one of the big end bearings had allot of wear and all the oil rings had lost tension. Looks like the engine had not been apart before for doing 260k was in good condition, no damage done to the crank or bores which was good. Got the head reconditioned: Before Reconditioned Inlet cleaned of oil build up Also had injectors serviced, starter motor and radiator reconditioned

Yeh, rebuild is going well, doing bits here and there, im lucky enough to have a father who was a mechanic for many years so i can manage to do it on the cheap side where i can.
The head was done at M&W Engine Services in Ballarat, for just the recondition of the head was $450.
I got a head gasket set through them for $170, head bolt kit for $22 and got the inlet cleaned for $30. All up with GST was $745
Hopefully back on the track/road soon

Well the car is back on the road. All up it cost about $1400 that was for parts and getting the head, radiator, injectors and starter motor reconditioned. Im still running it in but it feels allot more solid than it used to.

Cars running strong after about 2000k's since rebuild, not even a puff of smoke to be seen. put some new rear tie rods in from twosrus, very tidy things. then swiftly went to dirty them

certainly does just one thing though those rod ends wont last long with the driving that your doing you need to protect them from the mud/dust/dirt or they'll last only a few months. Need a covering boot for them. even if you use a tennis ball or squash ball with 3 holes cut in it for the rod to enter and the bolt to pass through. you would gain a huge amount of lifespan for the part.

after owing the car for 2 years i finally got rid of the knocking that was coming from the front of the car, i had replaced suspension bushes, sway bar tie rods etc and couldn't seem to get rid of it.
Replaced the bush that sits between the steering rack and housing - bamm knock gone and highway speed steering wheel wobble gone :D
2hardtop: defiantly would need more protection but i don't do the dirt events often and that weekend was a rare boggy one(usually more soft dust than caked on mud). will keep an eye out on it though.
