Might be worth asking them if they can configure them for rhd - you can see in the video that on low beam it kicks up on the right for their lhd rules.

Taken from eHOW.
"The shutter in a projector headlight sticks up from the bottom of the headlight, partially blocking the beam, so that it shines in a downward angle, towards the road. In addition, the top of the shutter is tapered, creating a lower beam on the left side (or right side, in left-hand traffic countries) and reducing light that is shone into oncoming traffic. When the driver switches to high beam mode, the shutter is lowered, allowing the headlight to shine unrestricted".
This would make them useless in RHD countries on low beam.
Fiddling with the height adjustment would not fix the problem because of the LHD beam shape that angles up on the right.

quick q: i don't know much about HID's etc, but the issue of shining onto oncoming taffic with these would not be as bad as the common HID  into STD H4 housings would it? as these don't properly direct/reflect the light properly or something?

i understand that the light onto oncoming traffic would still be reduced, in the pic is the low beam high enough to "blind" on comming traffic?

and i suppose the flat mod they do will just have no "rise" anywhere to left or right? i might be interested, but prob get it as it comes and mod myself. i'll have to look at my st165 arm to see how similar it is to the mr2 one also tho.

I don't know too much about HIDs either, but I'm fairly certain that with the 'flat mod' it wouldn't be blinding to on-comming traffic.

Without the mod, it would be as bad as a HID in a STD H4 housing as our cars actually shine the light upwards due to being lower to the ground.

I'm still in for getting a kit with the flat mod, I'll probably mod it with some approved projectors or get my brother to certify it (mechanical engineer).

Also gp fab don't know if they fit aw11 it not. They have never tried. So if they are the same design I spose they would but they are not made for them. Buy at your own risk.

I would say that if it is aimed correctly with the flat mod it would not blind oncoming cars, but you will miss out on less illumination to the left for the side of the road, street signs etc, and they would not be as effective as a proper setup.  I am saying this from my expereince in playing with the adjusting the level of the factory HIDs in my freinds Liberty.  The cut off is very sharp, its like a line between night and day, and the left upwards spill is very handy/useable.

Without the mod, it would be as bad as a HID in a STD H4 housing as our cars actually shine the light upwards due to being lower to the ground.

I think it would be much worse than properly aimed std housing with HID, ad the beam is concentrated in the HIDs.  Lights should not shine upwards due to being to being lower to the ground if adjusted properly, and the height of mr2 headlights is not really lower than "normal".  One of th reasons for pop up headlight is to gain enough height for the light for minimum regs for low front car.

Pity the shutter can't be flipped to make them RHD.

For the HID lights to be ADR compliant they need auto height adjustment and washers, which would be tricky to implement.

How do you mod the pop up height of the lights, is it just a case of shortening the arm/rod that pops them up/down?

Cheers

hey also in theory if you are driving on a flat road with hids/projectors, having a such good cutoff of light if aimed not to high wouldn't blind oncoming traffic due to mr2s being a low car thus not aiming "up" to a drivers face. and still having enough beam to see.
dont be jelly of my paint skillz.

Looks pretty easy to install, also some more pics on how the light is spread - check it out.

I am very sorry everyone, I have decided to leave this group buy. Being my main car I can't risk not having cut off on the right side.
Could you please take me off the list. Again my apologies.

I think the side cut off is important, so as not to blind oncoming cars, particularly those under the angle of the beam, such as those coming up a slope in front of you

Here's a quick interwebs search that I did looking at colour temps.

http://www.manyadeal.com/page.html?id=24

This site says that the 4300k light has the best output whislt the "10000K produces a deep blue light output approaching violet and the blue is noticeably deeper than the 8000K"

Well personally i'd steer away for anything that looks deep blue. Maybe i worry too much but the less attention from cars with red and blue light on the roof the better.

im not worried, like i said before this is not my daily, i drive it maybe once or twice a month, and never long trips at night. i already have 10 000k hids with no projector, ive never been pulled over for anything at all, and i have 10 000k bulbs in my fogs so i want a matching pair, only need 1 person that wants them.
also I dont think there is anything illegal in qld about the colour of your bulb, without going stupid.

this is mine with 10 000k fogies.
