Group buy: GP fabrications HID/projector headlights.
i have been talking to the guys at gp fab about their headlight kit and i asked about a group buy and here is what i got from them.: normal price is US$349 "We will give 5% off each set for every set that is ordered up to 10 sets (50%)" also i asked about just getting the housings because i already have HIDS but this is what i got: "Our kit won't work with other bulbs but if you'd like a kit without ballasts I can refund $50 off the selling price." but that $50 is a single item buy so im not sure if they would refund that much if we able to get 10+ and make it half price. so if we can get 10+ sets it will be half price here is more info on the kit. postage works out cheaper to send individual items and prob better too so they will be shipped direct to your door. cost is US$80 http://gladfab.myshopify.com/collections/mr2/products/mkii-mr2-bixenon-hid-conversion-kit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFLf4aPlklE&feature=player_embedded i will get a list going for people who are interested here first, and we can go from there. payment details: quote from GP fab: "If you think you have enough people I will put up a group buy page on my site. They can pay for everything and select bulb color and put their address. It makes things a lot easier." interested members: JDM_GT chase_d 5SGTE MIDN1T3 nick12 deano just_ace Sussdub scoota Ford_Prefect aa1320 Millsy101

Sounds good, Do you know if this mod could be legal on our cars? A brief search suggests a self levelling design with washers could be a minimum standard for retrofitment to satisfy the ADRs (Australian Design Rules, sometimes quoted by the constabulary, as they defect your prized car).

Does this mean for 10 people, everyone gets 50% off? so $175 each, total $1750 Or Is is 5% for the first on, 10 for the next, 15 the next, so on, making the totalling $2537.5, divided by 10 is $254 each. Can you make sure please? If it's the $175 each I'm interested, hoping we get 10 people

Might be worth asking them if they can configure them for rhd - you can see in the video that on low beam it kicks up on the right for their lhd rules.

i emailed him last night, JDM_GT: ""hey just another question, im from Australia so we drive on the left side of the road, i saw in the pics the beam pattern, is it possible to change it for left side driving?"" GP FAB "Not easily. I would suggest just aiming them a little lower. I've had LHD lights here and it wasn't bad at all. " and because they are adjustable i think they may be road legal but i spose its up to you and run at your own risk, my mr2 is not my daily drive so im not that worried, plus it looks quality and not a home dodgy job so most police prob would't know anyway.

and yes that's how percentages work, if 10 ppl get %5 the total cost is still %5, so yes $175 for over 10 ppl, and remember its US$$$ so atm we are still slightly better off. if u guys have any other questions just throw them at me....

Dudeman Might be worth asking them if they can configure them for rhd - you can see in the video that on low beam it kicks up on the right for their lhd rules. Taken from eHOW. "The shutter in a projector headlight sticks up from the bottom of the headlight, partially blocking the beam, so that it shines in a downward angle, towards the road. In addition, the top of the shutter is tapered, creating a lower beam on the left side (or right side, in left-hand traffic countries) and reducing light that is shone into oncoming traffic. When the driver switches to high beam mode, the shutter is lowered, allowing the headlight to shine unrestricted". This would make them useless in RHD countries on low beam. Fiddling with the height adjustment would not fix the problem because of the LHD beam shape that angles up on the right.

I would assume they could do it. But as they said "not easily" thus prob costing alot more. I would be happy with just the adjustment. And I don't think they would be "useless". They are hids so light output would be much higher than stock. I will ask about a cost the change to RHD though. I'll update the first lost when I know.

Red is right, and I'm all for getting them modded to AUST RHD spec. Last thing you want is to blind other drivers with HIDs.

Got a reply about the RHD issue. " As far as I know they don't make RHD projectors. What I can do is open up all the headlights and remove the step in the cutoff so the beam pattern is flat. I can do this for $20 on any set that buyers want this done on. Buyers can do this but it requires them removing the lamp from the panel and having to reglue it."
Im not going to do this. I'm just going to adjust as needed. And mrturbo I think the issue isn't blinding oncoming traffic rather not having enough light output to the left of the road. But like I said there hids so heaps of light output anyway. People who are not sure can wait till i/we get them installed and can order after but prob miss out on a really good price.
