Here is the torque graph, tells a different story to the previous power one.

Thanks Mike! Im not sure about being the one to beat in January, there are a few drivers there that know the track a hell of a lot better than me and dont need an engine and gearbox to get them home to Tasmania afterwards!

With the Wakefield Park challenge approaching I thought it best to update on the car, which is not much! I have had cooling system issues for a few years now and with the new found power this has worsened. With advice from Falcon (Doug) I decided to fit a header tank. I finished this last night (which is very temporary/ghetto) and initial testing in regard to functionality has been good, with the cooling system brought up to 100 degrees with the car sitting in the garage. I will do some road testing tonight but the real test wont occur until I make it to Wakefield. Other than that there is nothing to report. I have done very little track driving this year so will be feeling very rusty to begin with. Compared to last year I have an additional 70kW and an LSD and will be on the same worn out semis. Should be interesting!

Drill 6x 2mm holes in your thermostat. That will help with your cooling.

Im with admin, if you have issues with your temps overshooting, drill some small bypass holes either side of the jiggler on the thermostat. It allows a bit more flow in the system with the thermostat closed, and can actually assist getting the thermostat to react quicker, as the flow through the system helps the heat reach the wax pellet in the thermostat quicker.

Thanks Glenn and Nathan, Glenn explained the logic with this while at Wakefield. I decided to give the header tank a go first before drilling holes in the thermostat. The header tank was a huge success and surpassed my expectations. For the 2 days at Wakefield ambient temperature was above 35 degrees the whole time, coolant temperature never passed 85 degrees, even after 9 consecutive laps. Thanks to Falcon (Doug) who was the inspiration behind this.

Any pics of the header tank and associated plumbing? You've got me curious.

Good to hear the header tank worked. Means the issue your having is more a cavitation based issue then, and air pockets. If it hadnt quite done the job, id suggest bumping up the cooling system pressure if you needed it.

This is a very ghetto set up and I dont think anyone would learn from this, it aint pretty!! MCT_MR2 Good to hear the header tank worked. Yes I believe this is the case. My suspicion is combustion gasses are gathering in the cooling circuit and starving the water pump. Its a very complex system (i.e. system dynamics), Im of the opinion there is a form of eddying in the region of the radiator side of the thermostat housing.

Fair enough. Was more curious where you run the lines? I would assume from the return line/cold side?
I ask as my temp usually runs in the high 80s unless I'm giving it a hard time then it's low 80s and while I would like to a can't strap it everywhere :-S
