Nice - how did you find the K1?  I spent ages looking for one about 4 years ago when I had the *gofastmod* bug and wanted to swap out ct20b on my Gen 3 but couldn't find one in Aus.

And why on earth would the previous owner put a ct26 on the gen 3? Good to know you're fixing that up!

I was shocked when I stumbled across the K1 and just had to have it. I have been meaning to put a CT20b on it to replace the CT26 since I bought it. I only have modest power goals for this car of 200rwkw so the K1 should reach this with the stock ecu (maybe)

The previous owner wasn't an MR2 enthusiast unfortunately.
I think the reason it has a CT26 on it is because the ct20b was dead or no good and the simplest (likely cheapest) option was to bolt on a ct26 in its place. Not ideal at all but at least it works :)

Will be nice to see the difference going from a 26 with stock cast downpipe to a K1 with a Berk 3in DP.

Yeah sweet...boost hitting harder and faster, all the way to redline = win.  Berk 3in DP is worth it too, definitely noticed the difference when I put mine in.

If you change your mind and want a ct20b, I'll be more than happy to do a swap + cash with you haha.  Very unlikely I know, but worth a shot :P

Didn't realise you had a ct26 on there. This will kill it. Brings back memories that turbo does. Really came alive after a power fc tune though.

It is definitely worth a shot asking, I would. I will have to decline your offer though :) I'm keen to get it on and try it out.

Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing how it will perform. I've never run a CT20b or similar turbo before.
What sort of engine mods did your gen3 have and how much power did your put down with the PFC?

If I could get around 200KW on the stock ecu + 540's and maybe 220-225KW with a power fc + injectors that would be sweet. At that power level the Adub should hammer and be pretty reliable.

You'll get used to 200rwkw quite quickly, although it may be different for you having a bigger engine. I think you'll end up getting a power fc and tuning it.

I'd say your prediction is very likely to happen :) The Power FC is an easy purchase as its cheap and is plug and play. With stock cams tuning should be cheapish.

I got carried away on my last MR2 (getting used to the power) and ended up with 316RWKW. I don't want that to happen again haha. A stock sized turbo is all I need in the Adub.

Max I ever saw was 235rwkw, power fc tune by autotech with forged pistons, sidemount & 272's. You prolly wont need injectors if you have pump already. Got me into the 11's.

Yeh, tune it for 20psi with fc. Big diff from ecu limited 16-17psi.

I'm pretty sure the car has a Walbro pump but not 100% certain. What are the stock 540cc injectors good for? I thought it was just over 200rwkw?

well, if you were to use perfect world formulas, you need 5.5cc of fuel per horsepower made.

So, 235kw x 1.36 equals 319.6hp

we will work with an over the top drivetrain loss of 30% so 319.6 x 1.3 equals 415.48 hp at the engine.

so 415.48 / 4 x 5.5 equals 571cc injector.

Which works out to a 6% difference between the 540's and the formula.

Drivetrain loss is bumped up in the calcuation i used, same as the conversion from killowatts to hp, but based on those numbers, you could probably get away with a reg bumping the base fuel pressure up to 3.5-4  bar from 3 bar.

variances in engine efficiency etc will alter it, but using the formula, you will max out the injectors at around 220rwkw.

Thanks for spending the time to work that out. Much appreciated. Looks like the 540's will be alright with the stock ecu but probably safer to move up to Sard 800s if I get a Power fc to squeeze a little more out of it.

I think I'll pop the K1 on with the Berk DP, get the 3in exhaust done and pop it on the dyno checking the AFR whilst setting the boost to 17psi. If it passes 200 at the wheels I'll leave it alone for a bit.

540's max around 220-235rwkw. I upped the fuel pressure for a bit extra. Hayley stretched hers much further but I wouldn't recommend that.

Ordered a set of BC BR coilovers this morning for the Adub with 4kg front and 6kg rear springs.
Roughly 7 days for the custom order to be in my hands ready to install.

Funny thing is my wife said I should get them and even paid for them :) Bizarre
