spike10000 Just out of interest, does the 89 catalogue depict aero mirrors on all of the cars?
Yes. All late 88-onwards production ('89') had them, even the S.

So awesome! Would be quite a bit of a sleeper too! Still not convinced on front fog lights though - look a bit out of place.

Thanks man! Haha, I think that's what I like most about them. They just kinda pop out and look weird :)

Went and visited 27enemies today with his yellow 1989 that is being broken for parts. Got a bunch of bits and pieces including some custom made speaker boxes that fit behind each seat. Can't wait to get some 8in subs in there. Finally some bass. The boxes seem very well made with nice push fit front sections that hide and protect the speaker. They also attach to factory mounting points! I will recover them in speaker carpet and generally just tidy them up.

Tieing off more loose ends I see buddy. What subs/speakers/HU/amps are you thinking to run? Where you going to mount the amp?

Hi Jay, yeah just doing small stuff now. The audio has bugged me for ages and compared to our other car (Factory Harmon Kardon 13 speaker setup) its absolutely horrible. The AW11 currently has Jaycar kevlar 4in 2 way in the front and Infinity Kappa 3.5in 2 way in the back connected to a Pioneer USB/CD deck. Bass and midrange is pretty much non existant at the moment. The speaker boxes that I bought on the weekend have cutouts for 6.5in speakers (had crappy 2way 6.5s in them) so I'm thinking of either using a pair of 6.5in sub woofers (Kicker or JL audio) or enlarging the hole on one box and trying to fit a single 8in sub. I don't need massive bass in the car just a nice full sound so I can't hear the rattles :) For an amp I have a Jaycar 200WRMS 2 channel with bass control dial thingy which I will reuse if it fits under the passenger seat.

Subwoofers have been ordered. Ended up going with a pair of Kicker CVT625 (6.5in) which will drop straight into the enclosures I have. These are a shallow mount 2 ohm speaker rated at 150W RMS. My amp will output 125W RMS per channel for 2 ohm loads so should be a good match. The reviews have said that these guys put out quite alot of bass and sound like they are physically larger than what they are. After installing the amp yesterday I tested a 12in sub sitting on the passenger seat and it was ridiculous. I think all the AW11 needs is 1 or 2 small subs just to provide that little extra bass thats missing.

Exciting times. Approx how much extra weight do you think you'll end up carrying? Not like you don't have the power to carry it though.......haha

It is pretty exciting actually. Wasn't planning on installing subs just yet but these speaker boxes came into my possession and I already have the amp so its just taken off haha Not sure about the weight. My guess is around 10kgs extra. Speakers weight 2.3KGs each The amp is small-medium in size 2KG? The wooden boxes are light 1.5KG each? Wiring is short length wise so not much weight 200gm I'll just dial in another pound of boost and it should cover the 10KG :)

New item was purchased today from Dylan @ Gorilla Industries :) A pair of factory optional mirrored T-Tops. Pic stolen from Gorilla's website. (I did not purchase the T-Top shades though)

Presents arrived from New Zealand (North Shore Toyota) Front end parts. Will ask a local mechanic how much to change these ball joints, tie rod ends & control arms. I'm not going to attempt to do this install myself. The front end already has new castor rod bushes and new strut tops. Hopefully should remove the final few clunking noises :)

Went and spoke to the local mechanic the other day about how much it would cost to get the new control arms, ball joints and tie rod ends fitted to the front of the AW11. He was a d!ck about it and I left with the sh!ts. Ended up downloading the AW11 BGB, bought a 1/2in torque wrench and a pitman arm puller (to pop out the tie rod ends) All up did the entire front end all torqued up to spec in about 2.5 hrs. Very happy with the result, no clunks and feels nice and tight! Today I swapped out the ignition coil with a newer less KMs one I bought from Ethan. Mine had a crack in the side of it. New one made no difference to the running of the engine, just nice to know its newer and I also have a spare now. I also changed out the front brake pads with a set of EBC Ultimax. The car really is starting to drive nice now.
