Small update time.

I managed to make some brackets for the auto cover fog lights and got them mounted up front.  The car is filthy with bugs smashed on the front, I was too lazy to clean it prior to taking photos.

I decided to go as OEM as I could for the switch inside the cabin to operate them so I ordered a Euro rear fog light switch to take the place of the blank button my car had below the wiper knob. Looks great and functions as it should. Small light works when activated etc.

The other job I completed recently was to remove the (JDM only I think) speed chime. This device makes a chiming sound constantly when you exceed 103kmph. This bothered me when I drove down the coast a while ago as it was going nuts for well over an hour. Here's a pic of what it looks like if anyone is interested. It simply unscrews from a couple of terminals and can be put back if required.

And yes one the next items that needs attention is the front spoiler :) I'll replace both and paint them up.

A new front lip will look fantastic on the car. The late model lighter-silver two-tone really does look nice..

Haven't updated this thread for a while prob due to the fact I haven't really done anything to the car :)
Been spending all my spare time car shopping to replace my Wife's Saab which is trying its very best to go to car heaven (I keep fixing it though)

Anyway a car has been chosen so I've spent the last few days pulling out anything decent stereo wise from it before we hand it over to the stealership as a trade. I installed Infinity Kappa speakers in it ages ago along with an amp and quality 12" sub.

My AW11 became the proud owner of some Infinity Kappa 3.5" 2Ohm speakers to go in the rear speaker locations. The old almost completely stuffed AW11 speakers now live in the front of the Saab :) And sound terrible.

Now all I need is some bass haha.

I have a pile of cool bits ready to go on the car CT20b, Berk DP, Kakimoto SW20 3" Zorst, Kirk mounts etc. Once I stop spending money buying accessories and wheels for the new car I'll put the AW11 in to get these parts installed.

I actually found the fog lights on Gumtree. I don't think the seller knew what they were.

Been a while so here is a small update on the car.

Finally got sick of worrying about getting a flat tyre (I don't have a spare, jack or toolkit haha) and decided to do something about it.
Skip (Forum member) from Qld sorted me out with a genuine import AW11 space saver wheel, standard double scissor jack and retaining bolt.

I also bought on Ebay a North American AW11 1987 tool kit which comes in a lime green bag. Has the jack wind up handle & wheel brace. I think the JDM cars had a yellow bag???

The biggest change to the behaviour of the car was when I installed the Kirk engine mount inserts. It drives great now! The standard front & rear rubber mounts were like jelly. The inserts really firmed them up. I also found the front gearbox mount was loose and attached with one bolt (had this happen before on my SW20) With it all tightened up it is awesome.
Ordered a new frunk rod retaining clip from Toyota. Came to about $11 and two weeks from Japan.
Purchased a nice lens for my Camera (Canon 17-55 F2.8) So I should try and get some good pics of the car.

The next step will be to replace all the front end suspension parts/bushes just as I did with the rear end. Should get rid of a few clunky noises.

Thanks Spike. Yeah the earlier cars are almost grey in colour on the bottom half and the late 1988 (89) models are silver. Colour code is 28J or 166 Super Silver from memory.

After you said this I went and looked at a pic of my mates 87 GZE T-Top, I think you are right here!
If I can get in touch with him I'll ask if he wants to check the build plate for me to confirm his colour code. Don't think he drives it anymore these days.

That would be sweet if you could do that maj. Pretty sure my build date is 11/88.
I have an original Japanese brochure for the 88-89 car and the car on the front page has the same colour scheme as mine (silver bottom).

And here is a 86-87 Japanese brochure.

Wow, you learn something new everyday. I have that 86-87 catalogue you have there, but not the 89 version. Actually, I have duplicate of the 88 version, so will ebay it one day. I suppose I had never noticed the difference and just assumed it was a combination of paint fade and/or photographic flash causing the appearance of different shades.

But I agree, the silver looks fantastic. I like the subtlety of it, much like the white over champagne gold of the super edition.

Just out of interest, does the 89 catalogue depict aero mirrors on all of the cars?
