From The President's Desk: Kathy and I wanted to thank everyone who came yesterday and made the run one of the best we have done. To get 12 cars on such a rainy day was incredible.
After seeing the weather last night on TV we were so lucky that we seemed to skirt around all of the worst of it, and even the Obi Obi Road, which was closed in five places in the morning, became passable after we had the excellent lunch at the Kenilworth Hotel.
It was a bit disappointing that due to the rain the Bellbird Cafe was closed because of no power, but at extremely short notice Steve at the Keniworth Hotel set up a special table for the Club on the verandah and we were entertained later by one of the locals who wanted to race his 1988 Magna station wagon (with twin turbos!) against us. His secret to winning he said was don't have hubcaps on the car.

What was astounding was just the force of the water that had been in some of the creeks we drove over. The MR2's made it through just fine but the WRX's had some problems with ground clearance.

Great to see the other cars though, and its really about people coming along and enjoying themselves, which we hope eveyone did.
We welcomed some new people also, and although some had to leave part-way through the run we look forward to seeing them again soon.
Joke of the day from Mrs Scope : "How many men doe sit take to fix the windscreen wiper on an AW11?" Answer: "As many as can fit around the front of the car". There's a lot of comfort having a Technical Team like Scope and Mrs Scope on these runs because of just the level of knowledge and expertise about how the cars work.
Photos were taken using a special underwater camera and these will be posted as soon as I can work out how to do it (first time so bear with me).
Again, it was great first run for the year, and we have marked it down for the calendar again in the middle of 2013 so that we get to do it in the dry.
To everyone who made the effort to be there we really appreciate the support.
Walter
