Queensland First Run 2012 - HJ's to the Bush

The details for our first run of 2012 are as follows:


Meeting Place/Time: (North Side of Brisbane)

• Hungry Jack’s at the corner of Gympie Rd and Beams Rd, Carseldine. There is a Caltex servo at the meeting place plus coffee shops, etc, and plenty of parking space.
• Meet at 9.00am for a 9.30am (sharp!) departure.

Route:

• North on the M3 to the M1 and then via Steve Irwin Way/Beerburrum Rd/Old Gympie Rd/Peachester Rd to Peachester for short morning tea stop.
• From Peachester to Kenilworth for lunch via Booroobin Rd/Maleny-Kenilworth Rd.
• Lunch at Bellbird Creek Tea House (www.bellbirdcreek.com) – see details below.
• After lunch then continue via Kenilworth and the Eumundi-Kenilworth Rd/ Obi Obi Rd to Mapleton, and then through Montville and down the Razorback Rd to Palmwoods, and back to the Bruce Highway via Eudlo Rd, Mooloolah Rd and Steve Irwin Way.
• Brisbane is then 80kms south via the Bruce Highway.
• Total distance from HJ’s to finish is approximately 185kms

Lunch:

The Bellbird Creek Tea House has meals you can order over the counter but if we get 15 people or more then the staff will put on an all-you-can-eat steak and salads BBQ buffet for $15.00 each.

We will need to know the numbers of people coming one week in advance for the BBQ buffet so please let us know on the Forum if you are going to be there. If there are less than 15 people then we just order individually or take our own.

Run Admin:

There will be a detailed run sheet provided on the day plus as part of the development of the Club an indemnity form will need to be signed. Filling in an indemnity form is a simple formality on organised outings and these will be a feature of all Club activities in the future.

If you have two-way UHF radios please bring them as it helps to ensure that none of us get lost.

This will be the first run under the new Club structure so we all look forward to seeing you at the meeting place. If you have any questions then let us know and we will do our best to answer them. Don’t forget to let us know if you are coming and whether you are interested in the BBQ buffet lunch. It’s a great deal!

thanks for starting the roll call. I'd forgotten to do this (new in the job and still have a lot to learn).
 
I'm not up to posting a map on these pages yet as I have been focusing on getting the administration going for the Club, but what we are doing (the Run Manager and I, but mainly the Run Manager) is drawing up detailed run sheets which describe the route to be taken in detail, including all stops, distances etc.
 
We're doing this so that everyone can have a copy on the day (or in advance if they would like it PM'd to them -just let me know when you nominate), plus it helps establish a record for the future of where we have been and how we rate the trip.
 
Last Saturday we completed our recon for the run on the 25th of March to Bangalow in NSW, via Numinbah and Mooball, and this run sheet is now being drawn up.
 
We have until the week before the first run to let the cafe owner know that we have enough for the BBQ buffet (needs 15 people) so if you know of anyone else who isn't checking the Forum and would like to come then tell them to put their names on the list soon. Last minute is fine also but advance notice is needed for the all-you-can-eat.
