Admin surok wat? i did 45 in my na! Just saw this thread - http://www.mr2australia.com/MR2play/tm.aspx?&m=11419&mpage=1 How can you do a 45 at Marulan when you do a 1m20s at Wakefield? I have done a 1m19s at Wakefield in my old VS Commodore V6 with street tyres, auto and stock suspension! Be kind. That Wakefield figure was posted in December 2008 with the comment "Not bad for a first track day". Guessing that both the driver and car have been considerably improved since then. I don't know many people who wouldn't be happy with a 1.20 at wakefield on their first track day

Sorry - I just can't see a NA SW20 being 2 seconds quicker than a GT4 at Marulan, and I can drive! and.... there is no way that a reasonably stock NA SW20 street car can do 1m12-13s at Wakefield

But remember it was you who posted the comment "Surok has got me wondering if I'm slow or not." and Jeff Denmeade ran in the 38s in his EVO (awesome) I managed a 49 sec in MDTCs hire standard 220000km pls BMW 325, not having driven a car in anger or even a manual car since 1982. Loved the experience. Inspired me to buy my MR2 for the 2GR conversion. Also Marulan is really a small, tight, handling track. Never driven a GT4 but I did my research and decided on the MR2 over the GT4 because of its handling prowress

My GT4 is stock and I was running standard boost at Marulan and I was 2 seconds quicker than you in the 325. That makes sense to me. The GT4 should be quicker than the 325 on that track. I still can't see how a NA SW20 would be 4 seconds quicker than you. That's a big difference on a short track. BTW that EVO time is insane. Those cars are in another class totally to everything else. Amazing cars. I'll back off on you Surok - if you really did do the 45s then kudos to you mate. Nice work.

He didnt do a 45 at MDT. He drove my car then raced out telling everyone he did a 1.10 with no timing. All based on a guess. If he was finding driving lines at MDT like he did in my car at WP, Im suprised he managed to drive the car home and not have it removed from a sand bank.. He is passionate but requires lessons to be quick.

B24 That would be the short track for that time at Winton. Comparison: 1.31 at Winton (long) is around 1.04 at Wakefield and around mid to late 1.30's at EC (at a guess). Dont know about Marulan. What did the Celica do at EC and Wakefield? Went to see my mechanics today and asked them . Its the Long track at Winton they are 24's on the short track they are under 1 minute. They are very fast and in 2 liter N/A

Actually, 1.12-1.13 should be doable in a reasonably stock n/a. That's my hope anyway. I'm pretty sure Asimovy managed a 1.13 or 1.14 with only coilovers, lsd, wheels and federal rs-r. The best I've managed so far in my bathurst is a 1.15 flat on maxxis tyres front and bald federal ze912 tyres on the rear. I'm sure a pro could have punched a 1.14. I've now got coilovers and kumho ku36. I've also got a whiteline front anti-roll bar which I'll put in later. Hoping to net a 1.12 once I get used to the new setup. I'm sure if I stick Jeff Denmeade in the car he'll be able to pull a 1.12 flat. How close I'll be able to get to that is another story but that's what I'm aiming for. I don't remember what time I was doing at MDTC but it would have been around the 50 sec mark. I remember I went a fraction slower than I did in my old Ford Focus. Anyone keen to do an MDTC open day some time? Haven't been there for ages.

I did a 1:14, with understeer issues. I took the front cusco coilovers apart and i could fully compress the damper with no effort at all then it would stay that way... Brand new KW coilovers in the car now, hoping for an improvement on 1:14.

B24 Here is a link to the lap records of Winton. http://www.wintonraceway.com.au/about/lap-records You should ask for proof as it is almost inconceivable they managed those times. Just passing the info , ive seen the times , the car. Ask around if you wish The Orange Alfa with a 2 liter Nissan engine. Beninca.

Thanks for the carrot to follow. Nice to search then find a little treasure. Here is the car mentioned at Winton in its heyday, but not your regular trackday car. Its a seriously quick top running sports sedan from the golden era. Suprising how much TV they received back then.. One thing being, it would have been classed as over 2 litre being a (suspected) FJ20 turbo producing 700hp not under 2litre but this would have been the period of the AW11 sports sedan. This is a brilliant race with comparisons made to the Sierra's so it must have been from this period. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9srHj9V9mVI&feature=related Cheers
