Hey if I was in your shoes I would feel the same way.

I have been in touch with them numerous times and they just don't seem to be in a hurry to get this sorted. If they were in the same country I would have gone to meet them to sort it out.

If it doesn't get sorted, then I will refund you including shipping.

This has been an expensive mistake on my part.

Ok, help me out here people...

Seems i have the wrong pinion?
Top is from my rack, bottom is new pinion.

It kinda fits, and turns, but yeah the helical cut section is just going to be rubbing / cutting on the bearing there, dosent have the flat section like the other pinion.

Looks like i needed this one?

What pinion did i receive? Pinion A or B?

or, what rack does it look like i have? A or B? or early, late revision ect?

I had droped my rack off at a power steering place to have this installed, all seals changed ect, new boots, i have new oem toyota inner rod ends to be put on ect, and just get them to do whatever they need to / can as its a power steering rack that ill be running without power steering, so thay advised all the lines can be blocked, the 2 hardlines can be removed and blocked, they mentioned somthing about welding somthing on the pinion, and yeah just pack with grease ect instead of having ps fluid in it ect.

Thay have told me, obviously not only that the pinion may be wrong, but the rack itself is not that great, few flat spots or worn out ect, so either way ill be chasing another used rack, so if this is a later model pinion, i can jsut try to find a later model rack??

****...I got a pinion B and it looks like yours widemr! The only difference is the diameter of the bit just above the helical section is a bit bigger... I think we may have been screwed over.... All pictures I can find of SW20 pinions they have a much smaller helical section and look more like the other ones in your post.

This is giving me motivation to get my rack out and check these things.
I have 2 racks, a 1990 and a 1993, are these different A and B? or both A?

You ordered a 'pinion B' and it looks like the one that i took out of my rack (top one in top pic) or the new one i recieved (bottom one in top pic)?

It looks like the new one you received.. nothing like the one you pulled from your rack.

So are these the pinion B? as i believe i ordered an A.

That section just above the helical cut section thats larger on yours, i believe mine was like that, then after i received it i was contacted by marty and had to post it back to Ireland from memory, and was then machined down to what it is now. Did he contact you about this?

Yep mine is a pinion B as I have a rack from a 94. I thought that was the difference between A and B as the later gen pinions had different size bearings.
Even looking at Marty's post when he received the soft sample it looks so different to ours...

This is a picture of the quick steer pinion Totenkopf was selling when he parted his project...
