Went to my first trackday at Marulan Driver Training Centre. Its a great first trackday experience. Being a friday there was only 3 cars there. And i learnt alot about MR cars and getting the right lines. I had my gopro recording but im going to keep that to myself hahah :P.

Definately a great day and getting ready for the 23rd Sept at a private trackday at wakefield :)

First trackday at Wakefield hosted by Tristan and his friends. Plenty of tracktime as it was capped at 25 cars. It was an amazing day and definitely learnt alot. I was disappointed as im not able to judge how the car behaves, i think im still dont understand mid rear engine layout yet but i plan to watch over my videos and see how i could improve and watch other some drivers on youtube and also better lines. Need to learn heel toe as that will shave off a few seconds.

It was hot that day and definately the re002s were not up to the task. My rear re002s totally lost grip after 4 laps and needed to cool them down. And i just dont think they were grippy enough, i just didnt have enough confidence in the tyres. But that being said let my friend drive my car and he got a 1:15... so its all driver then....

I wasnt happy at all with my time even if it is my first time out at Wakefield. The fiskhook was tricky but i think i could some good lines. Just too much braking at times.

But at the end of the day i had great fun. And the car is still in one piece. On the drive home a fapping noise started coming from the engine bay. Sounded like a wire hitting a fan, intercooler fan? Pulled over and it was the AC belt broke. At first i shat myself as i didnt know what belt it was. Was it important? Can i still drive? I thought it was the AC but just wasnt sure. Just started driving slowly and monitored the temps and everything seemed okay.

I hope to get out there again at the end of the year or early next month. With some sticker tyres and see how i go.

Heres a pic of the front re002. Hard to tell but hot rubber coming right off... The back was much worse.

Here are some pics of the day

One of my headlights (h4) high beams blew. And looking for a replacement. I was ebaying and found MANY H4s rated for 90/100W, they are brighter but ive read stories where it burns out the wiring from drawing too much power. Im not a electrician, but decides to stay with 55w headlights.

So i came across with the bulbs i was running originally and have been happy it so went with them again. They were some "china" stuff and been perfect 5500K 55W bulbs, and was running them 2 years with no issues and costs around $30 shipped.

At the same time polished up the headlight shroud :)

The RXT helmet i picked up from "The Helmet Warehouse" for $140. Matte and Gloss Black was so played out, so i went with white.

A few weeks back picked up a staggered set of SA3R 17x8/9 to wrap the AD08. (my current set is 16 7/8) I love trispokes :P Abit of gutter rash, but easy to fix up.

Been thinking about getting a dremel kit for my polishing addiction. Doing abit of research and went for the cheaper option "ozito" rather than dremel. Has 183 pieces and 3 years warranty. For $50? Why not. This can be bought from Bunnings.

Polishing the exhaust tip

The lips of the rims, which were them ruined on the trackday haha. Good fun.

Alright so i have been having thought about tidying up the engine bay a little bit. Making it neater and bringing it up to life. Im all about OEM feels. So using the same can of high temp silver paint i got to work on the heatshield and hotpipe of the car. I had to take off the hotpipe anyways to change out the SSQV to a SSQV4, as i believed it was leaking.

Im extremely happy with the result. And brings up the engine bay alot.

Here are the pics of the process.

Here what i started with (hotpipe)

Need a c clip piler to remove the SSQV from the flange. Lucky me my neighbour had one

My SSQV was plumpback, the way i like it. Nice and quiet. Had to take it apart to get the inlet out.

The infamous SSQV fins

Swapped it out for the plumpback action

Removed the heatshield afterwards. Extremely unappealing and needed to be restored!

What hides underneath the CT20B :P

I could of used higher gritt sandpaper. But it was okay just to roughen it up and clean it up.

Forgot to mention. I dont have pics but i wiped it up with Wax and Grease Remover just to prep it before the spraying process. That was it for the night, and the next morning was the painting. Had some unexpected rain in after the first coat and had to take it off the clothes line for a few hours.

Masking

I sanded the back the old finish on the screws with the dremel and gave it a few coats of silver too to make it fit in. Here is the finish product.

This morning fitted AD08 225/45/17 onto SA3R 17x9 +38 at Bob Jane T Marts in Castle Hill for $15 each. I sourced the tyres myself, just required them to fit and balance them.

Great to see you are starting to enjoy some driving at the track.
Last week in Tasmania, I had a drive of a friends SW20 with the same tyres you have just fitted. They are a nice tyre to work with and do fall over after a few laps if you get the temps up but a great tyre for track days. We dropped the pressures to 34 psi which seemed to work ok. If we had more time (and fuel) we would have tried a few more things.we were only 5 seconds of the pace of the improved production times so both pretty happy with the result.
Do have footage available?
If you need a hand at the track for a day( with set up), I'm sure a Ian, Adrian and myself can help out where we can.

Last week Repco has a sale for Mother products 30% off. Did my research and went with the following products,
- Clay Bar kit which also has the lube :)
- Synthetic Wax

Altogether it costed me $50 and i saved $20. Winning :)
And i bought a car cover which was also on sale for $40

Being quite new to car detailing. I found this page, http://www.autopia-carcare.com/how-to.html. Which explained things about clay, polish and wax.

Washed the car and then started claying it. Ive never clayed this car ever and wow what a massive improvement it makes! The paint was so smooooooth afterwards :D. I was very impressed, but noticed all the stone chips and scratches from old paint :(

I think the whole process took around 3-4 hours. From wash -> clay -> wax.

Since i dont drive the car on weekdays. Bought a car cover so dust wont gather up on the car.
