LOL, does the cylinder head even fit on anymore.  I know there is absolutely no way my head for bolt up with those sticking out of the deck :D

+1 about the pistons. OMFG! Scary yet look so appealing @ the same time. You'd want to make sure your timing gear is all perfect (harmonic balancer too).

I'll let the pros set the timing. The first time we turned the motor without the head on, I shat bricks when I saw the pistons keep rising and rising out of the deck! But it does clear, and I do have a big ~1.7mm head gasket on there.

If we put in a 1.2mm head gasket it is supposed to give 12.4:1. But we have put in a 1.7mm cometic head gasket and it is now just about 11:1 (1 point of compression higher)

Sorry for the crap photo but this is where I am up to now, the rocker cover isnt pink it just appears that way because of the light.

Ah man I just realised I didnt change the oil pump seal. Atleast its easy enough to do with the motor out of the car. 
 
-edit- replaced the seal this morning took about 15mins.

So hopefully the motor is going in tonight, not holding my breath but heres a nice update photo for you all. I'm glad I painted stuff.
