Surok: I think this will be a very fun and spirited motor. a gen3 would have been a better starting point but meh. GEN2 is what I had to begin with!

Just_ace: http://wossneronline.com/forged_pistons/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=28_25&products_id=190

I bought them straight from wossner. Landed about 680 aud express post.

I weighed all my pistons rods etc. Compared them to my new pieces. The pistons are about ~100G lighter each and the rods are a massive 180G lighter each. This should help response as its about a kg worth of savings. It's noticeable on a rotating part.

oh no worries about it being a gen2 and not a gen 3.
change it to shimless buckets while you have it apart though. once i saw the size of the shims on my gen2, i was surprised they are like bloody 20c pieces..
if i ever rebuild my head i will switch over to the shimless setup. less weight!

No, gen 3 tb wont just bolt on. You could weld a new flange on to suit a gen3 tb tho.

i guess you are left with the only choice but to assemble your engine over chrissie yourself........

make sure you put the pistons in the right way:)

Estimated time of completion now is 14th of January. I'm not holding my breath... But still at least we have got all the major things done. Just the block assembly and installing the motor back in the car is left to do.

All my gauge gear arrived today, pretty happy about how it all looks. I bought oil pressure, oil temperature and water temperature, as well as the fittings like the gauge holder, sandwich plate and water temp adapter.

$315 this includes everything needed to install into my car. The gauges were 272 USD by themselves, they are prosport evo series metric. I like the look of them, check them out on youtube :D!

How do the gauges fit when their diameter is greater than the din height?

the gauges are 52mm in diameter, they fit fine into the din holder i bought for them. How big did you think they were or were you making a different point? I'm confused.

That fits well.  On the gauge I have (autometer), the outside diameter of the bezel is a a couple/few mm more the the height of the din.  so it would stick out beyond the holder that you have, and over the plastic piece of the car (the din/ashtray/vent surround).    Looks like the autometer ones are on the large size (even though they are classed as 52mm) and wouldnt fit as well as yours.

Cheers
