Nice. Saves me time and money since my graph would be virtually identical. What's with the dip in the graph at 142.5km/h?

You mean ACIS? I don't know much about dynos but after 5k rpm the car feels faster and acts like mini VTEC so shouldn't it bump up the curve? Could be a resonator thing as well...

woops. I was a bit drunk when I wrote that. It could have been a number of reasons for the dip in the power band. Let's see if it goes away after the rebuild.

Haha nah I was just being a technical smart arse, we all know both systems have the same principles.

I run redline wetter water in my SW20. It is claimed to be more effective than regular afab. Even on a warm day and after numerous sessions on the track the temps remain stable. You should be able to pick it up from any redline importer. Bubbles coming from your cooling system sounds serious though. I'd probably consider getting it looked over.

I'll have a look at it sometime. I was just curious how you missed the part that I was getting a rebuild :S if you read as far as to see I was getting bubbles. the cause was a blown head gasket.

Oops, I was skimming over the thread and missed that one. I guess once you get a rebuild though You'll have peace of mind your motor will be up to the task on the track. I had my dissy cap and rotor fail on me while at Winton last weekend and was able to get going thanks to a loan of some parts to get me home. With the track being 160ks from home I was thankful for that. Good work on the build so far!

Thankfully it was a club meet and not just a regular track day. My car may have easily had to spend the week in a workshop in Benalla otherwise, for something as simple as a cap and rotor. Thanks to Tommy for generously lending me your parts to get home.

i'm doubtful it'll make more power than a beams if the ports, valves and cam lift are smaller? i know port size isn't everything and sometimes smaller is better, but the stock beams valves are bigger than norm 3s, combined with the improved head design (port shape and angle, valve angle, comb chamber/squish areas etc) i'd say the beams would still have the edge. tho it depends a bit on what rpm you can pull/make power too. the only thing you have is longer duration cams, but beams has vvti. if you make power over 7000rpm then maybe you'll get close/more peak power, but to time the cam's like that you'd sacrifice a lot of bottom end, and the beams would have a lot more meatier midrange. but yes, guess the only way we'll find out is when this is finished, can't wait. will be a screamer

Sacrifice bottom end but as a 3SGE you'll natually rev it hard anyways ;P Definately give those tubbys a run for their money with this N/A track beast

according to my info (hyperrev mag, which lists all the specs and outputs for all gen1-3+vvti 3sg(t)es) the beams has 1mm bigger inlet valves, 256/10.5in 244/9.2ex cams. all gen3+ have staggered cam's, longer duration/higher lift on intake. which must be due to the 3s exh ports flowing well enough, ie: no gain from having long dur exh cams in overall power figures = better driveability with not having too much overlap. the beam having larger valves is like having a larger cam, also with the VVTi allows the overlap like long duration cams in the top rpm. along with the 65mm TB compared to gen2 55 TB and the more advanced head design and intake manifold i'm wouldn't count on getting more HP than a beams. one issue i see is the long gen2 inlet runners, this isn't ideal for top rpm where your cams are aimed at. TBH i hope you do make more power than a beams, then i can continue building my gen2 NA head for my 3sgte and not source a beams engine

I'll probably get ITB's made and fitted by the end of next year.
then there'll be no stopping you.
