Progress.

Engine is out of MR2, and essential hardware from camry taken out.

Bye bye camry!

Turns out the v6 engine has had a rebuild recently. The heads are spotless!

Happy days. V6 engine mount adapter is also on its way. Expecting my flywheel to be ready tomorrow.

V6 engine mount has arrived and all of the engine prep work is complete. Still waiting for the flywheel to be milled to size.

Good work!

Not sure the elongated flywheel holes are a good idea?

Cheers

I'm not a fan either but plenty of people do it with big hp 5sgtes without dramas.

I wasn't a fan of the idea. But after speaking to woodsport.org who have done over a tonne of these conversions I was convinced. The flywheel I'm using is a toda hardened chromoly unit. It was machined to the correct tolerance of the new bolts. Combined with 4age arp flywheel bolts it's not going to fail. The clutch is a 3sge ceramic cushion button.

Update:
The main fuel line was a direct fit once the fuel filter was unbolted from its housing and bracket relocated. The fuel return line was just as simple with a longer than factory hose used to connect.

The coolant hoses were a little trickier but with a trip to bursons and using a combination of camry coolant hoses and flexi hose we were able to connect it all up. Total cost of $25.

I tackled half the wiring yesterday afternoon, using guides found on twoburtal (mainly version 1.4 as it has better pictures).

I do plan to make the aircon functional but that will take a little more work and a few $$ in custom pipes.

I have a good feeling it will start up for the first time either tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Then after a thorough "is it tight" test is complete I will get the engineering certificate.

Pretty happy with the progress :)

It runs and sounds awesome. I have to sort out a new throttle cable and tidy up the wiring and then it should all be good :)

Was pretty crazy that it started on the first go considering i did all the wiring in the dark.

Exhaust is finished up now. Has all the legal things like cat and resonator and even a muffler crammed in there. Just tidying up to do now. Also put the tacho from the v6 Into it works flawless.

The revs climb very fast that flywheel has really livened up the v6.

It has been registered since last Friday now, its a great feeling driving the car within a month of purchasing the donor camry! It has a couple of little issues to sort out before I take it to QR on Sunday (if its not raining), if its raining ill take the 86.

I bought a Heads up display for fun as well. Looks pretty cool from behind the car.
