how does the microtech go controlling the mr2?

Its certainly a basic ecu and has limitations though has been ok so far.
It was in the car when i bought it. I wouldn't buy another one.

I have the hand controller if you are interested. It's been sitting in the garage for 5 years.

The good news
  • the engine ran well and the boost creep problem is gone after my awesome turbo porting job
  • we found the cause of the previous engine detonation - way too much ignition advance at low revs. We cleared all the maps and started from scratch.
The bad news
  • there was a slight air leak around one of the injectors, so it idled a bit rough. New O-rings have been bought today.
  • the alternator shat itself before the tuning couldn't be competed. It's a throwaway. I have 2 old alternators here that I will take to the auto electrician tomorrow. Hopefully he can make 1 good one from the 3 of them.
I'm booked to go back next Monday to complete the tune.
I did see around 185kW @ 15psi so it should make decent power @ 20psi.
I'm running 98RON.

Nearly there!

Final dyno tune tomorrow and Wakefield Park on Tuesday. Woohoo!
I've bought a set of Hoosier R6 tyres so will heat cycle them on Tuesday in preparation for the track day challenge in January.

A tip for new players - don't assume that a ST185 Celica alternator will fit a MR2. Farking thing is a couple of mm different so the holes don't line up.

Sounds great mate. Looks very neutral with a decent amount of grip to keep it all together.

I've updated the first post in this thread with some photos I took the day I bought the MR2. It's come a long way over the years
