Sick build mate, you should come out to Winton one day though, it's a real drivers circuit. That or Philip Island, if your into loading a car up at 200 into turn 1 haha.

Congrates on getting your car to the track and having a run. After reading you rlead up to your track day I really feel for you mate. Every one of my days is the same! It is getting easier and it will get easier for you too.
What camber/caster/toe settings/ tyre pressures did you run at Wakefield?
If you need a hand with a set up before you go next time, drop me a line and I will help you out but not at 1am!
Again, well done and hope to see you at the Nationals

pete , yeah for sure i agree with you on his setup . his very new to the whole drive your car in anger thing. Plus his my ex's bf , so sort of mate ... if you know what i mean ... but i guess all that matter is his out there giving it a try!

B24 for sure next time! maybe some pointers to reduce my times ????

alignment setting at the moment is unknown , as i got it the first day i bought it . once i get some rego on the car , alignment is on the card. hey do you reckon it would be worth corner weighting it or wait until i get some suspension on it ???

i did play with the tyre pressure . used the old chalk / shoe polish trick on the tyre . started off with 32psi cold and did ok , was alittle oversteery...finished the session and pressure went up to i think 36ish then i drop it down to 23 psi and it felt ok. the chalk was evenly worn... i decide to lower the pressure to "try" and get alittle more rubber on tarmac as per the chalk markings.

oh yeah that reminds me next pay i gonna invest in a tyre gauge and maybe a infra red temp gun .

thanks again guys for the encouragement.  make it all more worth it that im not the only one suffering .. hehehe

Next time your at the track Im happy to come along and help.

23psi sounds pretty low. I run at 38 hot but will be trying some other options next time out.
I would not bother with the corner weight until you have fully adjustable coil overs, your final built weight and $800 ready to spend on having it done.
As for improved times, just drive it as often as you can for the time being. Alignments and tyre management are the easiest, quickest way to improve time without the higher costs. 2nd hand semi slicks are also an excellent way to get there. Ask Vinny..
If I was given $500 to make me 2+ seconds quicker at Wakefield I would spend it on a day of driver training with Mike Navybox. This is the best way to be quick at Wakefield outside spending 10k on your car.
Cheers

update..
car still standard and no rego but i manage to fit in another track day .

5:00am Monday Morning  going to circuit club queens bday track day

PB:1.19.1930
http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?13/06/2011.WAKE.S4

it was wet for the first half of day and like driving on ice ..  spun and went off track more then i can remember. ( car looked more like it belong on a rally)  track dried up after lunch and it was alot more fun!!!  cars got a hunting idle issue. maybe tps , maybe a vaccum leak or something ... gonna have to check it out .

got a 1.21.4470 after lunch and so my boss offered me a seat in his rx8 and showed me some pointers around the track... jumped out of the rx8 and went out myself and instantly the car felt so much better.  the car and i felt like one.... . every lap felt good. the car was alot more balanced and the grip level up.

honestly i didnt expect a 1.19.1930  maybe 1 second off but 3 ... awesome ! now to find that 1 second to get to my goal of 1.18. i think its doable.

BUT the GF says no more  until i pay off some debts and get this thing registered .. ( gotta keep her happy)

in other news i've decide i cant have 2 toys so the bimmer is going up for sale for a tow car  - jzx100 to be more specific .  and the aw11 will eventually become a track only beast. driving down natio isnt the same anymore ... maybe its just me getting older or something but  the risk are to large with little gain .. when wakefield and eastern creek are only a couple of hours aways . and driving on the limit is so much more fun then at 80%.  might lose some street cred .. but then i never had any . guess i can always hard park the tow car =P ... shall see how it goes.

I was down at this day too, in the red sw20. I forgot to say hello!

I saw you go off the track once or twice, you looked like you were giving the car a hard time!

Also where did you get the urethane for the engine mounts? the rubber in mine has seperated from the metal ring.

Haha, those tyres are hilarious in the damp! The first turn was nearly an event! :D
Also, do i hear the speedo chime? So JDM. :p
Looks really nicely balanced into the turns, with some big-boy tyres you'll have that mx-5 next time!
