aw11 sc- track hack
hi guys . new to the forums and have been lurking here for about a month or so and finally picked up a aw11 sc project on sunday. have always like 80 styling cars . previously owned a ae86 and now daliying a BMW e30 . adub is going to be a weekend/ track hack. build concept is going to be KISS (keep it simply silly  ). learnt that the hard way with my ae86 build , so this time im going to be kiss-ing it all the way . hehehehe. pics :  us checking the car out.  got it home sunday afternoon . drove up to Newcastle and spent a good 3hr drive back .. where the magic will happen:    all original and needs alot of love. orginal engine is going to be drop for this sometime next week or so:  oh and this arvo jack her up and saw this on the gearbox .. anybody got an idea ??? will i be to adapt a gearbox oil cooler via this u line?

First pic looks like a classic "Dude, where's your engine" moment!
Yes to your last question, the trans has an oil pump and that U-pipe is where you can plumb in an oil cooler.
Welcome to the forum and congrats on picking up your first MR2.

thanks guys , need to make a shopping list aye . some pics of my old sprinter (now sold) did a couple of track days with it but needed more money before ( which i wasnt willing anymore), to be happy with it. one day ill have another one but from the mother land.    and this is what takes me to work everyday.. i was planing on tracking this best .. but its just too damn clean (full service history+ logs since new & 1 owner) .. so i pansy'ed out. good thing i guess is the mr2 will now get all the glory [88]

hey guys . so not much happening. woke up this morning and made a list of things i needed. i will be building this car in stages. stage 1- get the engine working and rego and get a base lap time at Wakefield. stage 2- tyres+ rims / bucket seat + harness stage 3- suspension overhaul so the list for stage 1: -waterpump -new leads -dizzy rebuild kits -gasket glue -vacuum lines -hd clutch -engine oil + filter -gear box oil -oil cooler -gear box oil cooler -timing belt -water pump belt -air con belt -injector cleaner and went down to the local spare parts store and they said they couldn't help me because mines a import and they need samples of everything .. sigh [8~2] so came home and open the garage and thought i do some work today with Sydney weather being crummy lately almost every weekend .. today it was sunny!!! so i thought i do some work on the car . plan was to get it so i could just drop it when i could find an engine crane, but i sort of got carried and away and 5hrs later or so .... bam!!!   i cheated a little, because i did most of the work during the week.

ok update ; ordered a clutch and a new timing belt . and will be ordering a whole bunch of stuff this weekend. pretty happy with the car so far . everything down to the bolts are original and has never been touched everything look to be in good condition . just been stripping things and will be cleaning and swapping them over to my other engine .  moved the car out so i could do some work .     oh any body know what this is ???

ahhhh thanks 2hardtop!!
setup a parts washer yesterday and got the alternator back together agian .,.. no pics because it was too HOTTT and I CBF yesterday. but its nice and clean now. also drop off the gearbox to Award Diff and Gearboxes at seven hills . getting it inspected and cleaned .. hopefully it wont need anthing major. also picked up a vice and a gear puller ..
if anyone knows some who has a reduction type (1kw) starter motor , drop us a pm . also loooking for an exhuast system to suit the aw11 . mines swiss cheese .
today im off to bunning ... i badly need a workbench / sick of this working on the floor and squatting like an asian poo poo ...

got some work done last couple of days . so got this :  and it did this :   then needed to do this :  and ta da !!!  and this came in the other day  and a mate donated this :  now i just need to find someone with an exhuast [:x)]
