The car does have air con. We will be using the stock IC as the HE, running the existing water spray for it. We will also be running the water injection.
The stock IC is similar core size/volume as the HE for the 350hp kit, plus has end tanks for larger water capacity.
Didn't really want to go for front mount (it would be more ideal) due to the extra stuffing around trying to fit it all. Will see how this setup performs, can always try something different if its no good, but I believe it should work good for the power level we will have.
Cheers

Pulled the gearbox off on the weekend to check clutch. the starter was absolutely seized up in the bell housing. if the motor was in the car, i doubt it would be possible to remove it. clutch looks fine with good meat left on it, so put it back in. i found a sophisticated clutch alignment tool looking through bits and pieces in the garage. its a ....... ikea bathroom bench leg!! perfect fit!! will mount the gearbox back on the motor then install in the car. need to fabricate some bits for the w2a IC. cant do too much with the motor out of the car as i need to make sure i clear the cross brace. cheers

Almost all of the stuff is makeshift created to get it done. Simple, sometimes crude, but it works, just like the high tech ikea clutch aligning tool!!

Well I was partially right in my post above, got it finally running during the Christmas break, just not that particular break.... Its been a long time between drinks but the beast is finally on the road. Got it fired up a few days ago, a few niggling things to sort out but its going great!! Will update thread in due course with info. For now its running the stock IC, the Apexi intake and exhaust and the ebay SARD copy dump pipe/cat. Its only running 0.6bar for some reason, but feels very strong, should be a real blast when the boost is sorted. What a ripper Christmas present!!!! Very happy!!!! Cheers

Absolutely, what a hoot to drive!! Some progress pics below. We decided to go with a crinkle red for the rocker cover. Prep work: Painted: Close up of the crackle: Final result, looks great. Massive lift for such a small change. Got some of the stainless allen bolts from Delta V as a finishing touch. Cheers

Had a bit of an issue with the gear shift being stiff, sorted it out today. Ended up being a problem with the selecting bellcrank binding up. Here is the thread for those interested: http://www.mr2australia.c...5364&mpage=1#85895 Fitted the Gen 3 shifter at the same time, feels great now! The throw is significantly shorter than the older setup. Got a nice beefy battery the other day too (650CCA), plenty of room in the battery space to fit large capacity battery. Will have to rig up a trickle charger to keep the battery topped up when the car is not used. Cheers

Thanks, we were pleasantly surprised on the result considering the quick effort. Well worth it. If the standard IC was staying, would probably paint the hot and cold pipes too. Car is running great. Still need to nut out a few issues. The idle is a bit high ~1000rpm, sometimes ~1200rpm (drops with AC), and the its running 0.6 bar, so need to recheck the wiring, hopefully something amiss there. Cheers

Congrats Arty for sticking through with it for the long haul. Fantastic results on Rocker Cover - Did you use paint stripper to clean it up? Look forward to seeing it sometime.
