1990 GT - The fun begins
Hi everyone, new to the forums so want to introduce myself. I previously had an SW20 GT hardtop many years ago which I owned for some time and have recently acquired another 1990 SW20 GT but this time a t-top. Great to be in this type of car again, real fun to drive. The car is a JDM turbo, but has a suspected headgasket leak (overheats if driven hard for a while or if its hot) but otherwise goes well. Have bought a gen 3 half cut so will transfer the mechanicals into the car, and sell the current motor/turbo/gearbox/ecu etc if there is any interest. Really looking forward to working on the conversion and the car and enjoy it when its all complete. I will try to attach some pics, which will hopefully work (newbie to posting on forums). Cheers Arty

Yes, I am in Perth WA. I was one of the founding members of the WA MR2 club when it started many years ago (~10+ yrs), this car was also part of it.
Many great times were had by everyone, it was good fun.
Cheers

Love a shiny black 2 :) But i've got to ask... has it been in a crash? You've got toblerones as well as the side indicators.

Very nice car Looks to be in mint condition. I'm also wondering why you've got 2 sets of side repeaters though?

I believe prior to the previous owner, it has had the Australian spec front guards installed at some stage, hence the extra indicators.
Should get rid of one of the sets to make it look cleaner, and get clear/smokes lenses for the remaining ones, which I think look nicer than yellow on a black car.

You should do what MR2QIK has done on his car. Forget the toblerones and stick with clear/smoked ones down the side. And maybe even clear front lenses while you're at it Makes a huge difference if you're looking for that modern look.

Yeah Steve did a great job looking after it. Will keep the forum updated on progress as it moves along with the conversion.
The car is a project Steve and myself have taken on and it will become our weekend fun car and part time track warrior.
Some other info on the car:
Has lowered king springs Electronic boost controler (16-18psi) Made just over 140kw at the wheels on the last club dyno day running 15psi
We installed a water injection system into it years ago, using an Aquamist nozzle, high pressure irrigation pump using a fuel cut off solenoid controlled by a small electrical circuit taking the feed off the factory MAP sensor (adjustable, but set to come on at boost)
Also installed an intercooler spray using the same pump but a differnet nozzle and an Autospeed intelligent intercooler spray controller. This controller looks at injector duty cycle (to see how hard car is being driven), ambient air temp and intercooler core temp to decide when to spray the IC.
Car also has Gen3 lights and brakes including slotted discs.
