While I was waiting for some paint to dry on some other projects at home, I decided to setup the VVT on the 20V and give the ECU a few tweaks. http://youtu.be/4AGxET0HcaANot so noticeable in the video, but you feel the kick in the seat and the induction noise changes evidently. Now to work on fixing my wideband issues.

Decided to get around to fitting my ST185 twinpot brake calipers today. I used the ZZE123 Corolla 255X25 brake discs with this conversion and 2mm spacers to correct the offset of the disc. Usually for this conversion, people use the ST185 brake disc, which is a 5 stud disc and needs re-drilled to suit the AW11. I've added a guide on how to do it on my website, www.midrear.net, it's located in the projects section. Couple of quick pictures to show the setup. The twin pot fitted with a 14" steelie rim over them. They just clear (well, just rubs the paint on the calipers...) But they work much better with 15" rims. A pretty simple mod to do in the grand scheme of things since it's all bolt on, once I get some new pads (current ones are old, glazed and have uneven wear) I'll be able to see how much of a difference they make. As they are on the car at the moment, the pedal is a little softer initially, but when you stand on them, it's still easy to lock the fronts up.

On Saturday, took the TrackDub to the Slidewize Jap VS Aus day. Had a blast and got some good practice in on hydro hand brake during the skid sessions. In the timed events, I managed to jump a V6 Commodore off the line on the "Go to Woah" shoot out for a win, before lining up against a V8 Commodore ute and getting smashed. After that, I managed to beat another Commodore on the figure of 8 shootout course, then went toe to toe with an R33 Skyline, where we had to go into a re-run (too close to call) and then I locked up a bit on one corner and put myself a half car length behind. Then they moved onto the sprint circuit, where I got a chance to show them what the AW11 is all about. I set the fastest times in both runs (beating a V35 350GT Skyline), but both times failed to pull the AW11 up in the garage at the end. The KU31 tires were locking up and swinging off the hydro hand brake didn't help stop her. Should have braked earlier! Jap team ended up winning, 164 points to 150 points. Couple of photosIn the paddock waiting for drivers breifing. The little Impreza ready to go for a skid session with an XR6 All the cars who competed.

Hi Knightrous. Great stuff mate. That is a good result. And thanks for the pics. Where is the venue.? I would certainly be interested if that is Gympie. Seems to be a terrible lack of enthusiasm for motor sport in our Qld group. Like the look of the Hyd handbrake but does it flex too much on its mounting? Cheers Doug.

The venue was indeed the Road Craft driver facility in Gympie. The hand brake works fairly well, there is a small amount of flex, but that's probably because it's held on with 7 tek screws. I'll get around to welding the support mount in shortly with a couple of extra braces. With regards to motorsport in QLD, there is interest, but it's like herding cats. Hard to get people past all the excuses (my car isn't ready, I need to spend $$$$$$$ to make my car faster, etc etc) and get them to the actual track.

Quick update. Went to the Godbee Performance Dyno Day at Widgee today. I did a one hour street tune on the way to the dyno venue using the VEAL auto tune software, which was mainly for getting some fuel economy while driving. It made 112.0RWHP (83.5RWKW) with the current tune and has plenty of room for improvements. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BpVJrl_a8A Looking to get it onto the dyno for a proper tune in the next few months and look at playing with cam timing, intake velocity stacks and maybe custom 4-2-1 extractors. But for now it's tuned good enough to drive as a daily again and it's ready for Willowbank drags next weekend and a motorkhana at the end of the month :)

Damn, wish I knew you were going I'd have come out for a few runs.
What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law.-"Sheriff Buford T. Justice." Do you know the 1st rule of Italian driving?

http://www.midrear.net/ww...x.php/101-mount-rapage Well after the fun session at Willowbank, the TrackDub came home with a slight viabration noise that was noticeable down low but not while cruising along on the high way. I just assumed it was something that had come loose in the engine bay and was vibrating (or the over flow bottle had landed down on the diff again...). I checked out the engine bay and a little poke around lead me to this! A totally raped engine mount that has broken all the way through and let the motor shift against the mounting point itself, hence the vibration. So the next little project for this weekend is to get my spare mounts out, sikaflex them up and swap them over. Following that, I'm going to do cut up the broken mounts and cast 90A poly urethane into them for some new extreme mounts! Look out for a quick guide on doing that in the future!

http://www.midrear.net/ww...4-sikaflex-them-mounts Well after Mount Rapage, I decided to follow an old back yard method for beefing up engine mounts, by adding sikaflex (Urethane) to fill in the gaps and strengthen them up. So I picked up the items. Sikaflex, acetone and wax n grease remover. Use the wax n grease remover to clean the mounts thoroughly. Now pack the gaps in the mount full of sikaflex

Use a paint brush dipped in acetone and smooth the sikaflex out and push as much air out it as possible.

Now just wait 3-4 days for the sikaflex to cure and harden correctly, then throw it back into the car :D

http://www.midrear.net/ww...5-mount-rapage-part-ii Swapped out the broken mounts for the sikaflex filled spare mounts. Check out the old mounts.
With the new sikaflex mounts in, there is some vibration through the cabin and a couple of trims rattle more then usual, but it gives it that race car feel now :P Will have to see how it goes at 110km/h down the high way to see how bad it gets. Till next time....
