Nah I haven't cracked the sump open yet. I'm borrowing a 3/4" impact gun to get the crank pulley off.

Removing and organising 24 valves and springs is tedious work.

Cylinder heads are back from SA Engineering. They look so pretty after being run through the parts washer a dozen times. Gotta measure the crank bearing clearances and send the block off for its deck and clean. No sign of any glitter from a knackered bearing but the guy at the shop had a great suggestion to the cause of the squealing noise, a dry main oil seal.

Should probably try and keep this up to date. If only to keep me motivated to get things done.

Cylinder heads are still sitting on my bench, got some valve grinding paste and tools to grind the valve seats. I'll do that then refit all the valves. I'm waiting on a friend of mine to come through with his snap-on valve tool to refit them.

Crank and block are at the shop. The crank bearing surfaces are being polished and the bores are being retextured. Once it's back I'll open up all the oil galleries and give them a thorough clean with some brushes and a high pressure wash. Then it's onto measuring clearances and ordering bearings. I imagine from what I've seen so far that most if not all bearings will still be their stock clearances but I'll replace them anyway as a matter of course. Then it's onto rings, I imagine they'll be stock also.

Bought a full seal kit on Friday, bought at cost price it was $350 . But I realised when I got home I'd ordered the wrong kit, it came with graphite headgaskets instead of MLS. Gotta swap it over on Monday and probably part with some more money.

Ordered a Fidanza flywheel, some poly engine mounts and some small trim items from Twos r Us last week, they'll be here on Tuesday.

Spent most of yesterday just cleaning up the garage. Got sick of all the crap that was sitting around and I've got a scrap metal dealer coming out on Monday to take away my old 3SGE and a bunch of other stuff. If anyone wants a working 3S you need to get in fast. Bought and setup some new garage shelving also which has created a lot of space.

If that noise is still there after all this you can expect a very public and messy mental breakdown from me.

Gonna take my time with this because I just bought a new daily run-around. For $1100 it was a steal.

Now the pressure to have two cars on the road is off.

Then drop a second into the back of the Corolla for 12 cylinders of 4WD fury ;).
Could always do it like the MRolla (AW11 with a FWD Corolla welded on the front) where they run a Auto gearbox in one end and a manual in the other :P

Rebuilt the dizzy today. No more oil on the driveway I hope. I'll have to give the engine a degrease and keep an eye out for other leaks.
