Cheers mate. I hope it goes well too. I'm interested to see how bad the factory intake manifold works, along with a few other things. I am really hesitant to let the engine bay look too different to stock with how many people with modified cars are getting epa'd at the moment.

Just a quick update:
I have finished 99% of the engine bay assembly, i have nutted out the new intercooler mounting, oil cooler and assmebled the rest of the engine bay.

Still to do:
* Install and setup water spray
* Fabricate air guide in bonnet for new cooler
* wire up motec, install and wire map sensor and air temp sensor
* convert injector loom for sequential injection
* Run in tune.

Just another quick update...

Photo of previously mentioned oil cooler setrup:

I know it is out of direct airflow, but i am kind of assuming wih the extra oil capacity, that will help with thermal management, as the car hasn't ever had overheating issues.
WHere have other adub owners put oil coolers on their car?? I was considering a SW20 PP style setup, but with the exhaust layout on my adub, it isn't much of an option. If it isn't effective enough, i will relocate it, or put a shroud on it to pick up air from under the car.

I have also deleted the AFM completely, and it has been replaced with a 3inch stainless pipe, which i have painted black, and welded a nut in to suit the air temp sensor. (please excuse the poor welding, the tig welder i had available to me was low on gas)

I have also started making up my patch looms to run the motec. As i am lucky enough to have the materials available to me, i am making my looms with tefzel wire, raychem heatshrink and deutsch DTM connectors. I have started making a main sensor loom, for my 3 bar delco map sensor, delco IAT sensor and my bosch coolant temp sensor. I have switched to the bosch sensor as it screws into the factory location, but as it is supplied by motec, it has a calibration code to put into the motec, which is easier than manually calibrating the factory sensor.
Also in the interest of a smooth idle and better driveability and light duty economy, i have made a loom to run sequential injection on the motor. It was a simple enough task, and i have put heatshrink over the terminals (as i have pinched the connectors for the new loom), and have folded them over and taped them back to the facotry loom, in case i ever return the car to stock.

I have to order some 4 core shielded wire to make a new loom to get my crank signals (i have been told that it is not uncommon to see misfiring due to system noise if i were to take the signal at the factory ecu).

Just a quick one... ran the car in on the dyno last night, have only tuned it up to 5000rpm, and have set the timing very mildly, but the car put down 99.7kw on the final run.

While i put some k's on it to bed everything in, i still have to mount a fan to the intercooler, and set up a water spray, which i will control with a spare output on the motec.

Also have to change the cat back on the car, as i have a feeling the hks catback will be a little bit restrictive.

I would also strongly recommend the pulley bros underdrive clutched s/c pulley to anyone as an alternative to running the large undampened crank pulley. The underdrive s/c pulley makes 10psi, peaking at 11 psi on my setup, but the main difference i have noticed is it doesn't seem to labour the engine as hard when the charger pulley engages.

I have the pulley bros pulley on my wishlist. I was a little apprehensive about going to a 3-rib belt, but can't be arsed modding things to get more grip unless i have to. Are you running the supplied belt? If it doesn't slip then i have no worries. :)

Will be keen to see what yours throws down when run in. I've been looking at going cams, pulley, and w2a on my quadruplet of your car. :p

Mine ran 100rwKw with stock 4AGZE. HKS F-con, and HKS cat back exhaust. Standard intercooler. Standard 8psi boost. 95 RON petrol. So with the work you have done I would think you can achieve more than that.

Cubits: I also had concerns about the 3 rib belt, but i decided to have a go with it anyway. One thing the instructions recommend is to get the factory clutch disc machined flat again, and i really agree with it. Also it can be a little bit of a pain to get the air gap right between the clutch and front plate, but the washer they supply is easy to machine down to get to the right size. At this stage, i have not noticed any belt slip, but i will keep you update if that changes.

mr2pod: The car will probably end up making more power, as it is the run in tune, the motor is only been spun to 5,000, whereas the final tune will spin out to 8. We haven't pushed with the timing either, and the motor is only just getting into it's efficency range. providing the power curve doesn't taper off too much, the motor should be good to make around 130rwkw or so on the final tune.

A quick update...

A little while ago i got motorvated on a sunday and with some help from some work mates, i made up a new cat back. I put in a 2.5inch stainless 100 cell metal cat, custom made stainless resonator, and a 2.5inch varex.

Got it back on the dyno and power is up to 126rwkw. With the varex shut, the exhaust is deep and quiet, but with the varex open, idle registers at 92db and under boost, it sounds like a motorbike.

Suspension and brakes are the next on the list, as the car has more power than the chassis is happy with. Also the booster doesn't see enough vacum to be effective, so i may end up running a vacum pump.

Gave the car a wash, so i took some quick pics while i was at it:

I finally got a chance to give some attention to my own car, which hasn't happened for quite a while due to work commitments. Apart from a service, braided brake lines and a brake fluid flush, i finally had a chance to put my 600hp frozen boost wta kit into my car.

The setup is a bit rough, as the car is my daily, and i may change a few things around, depends on how the setup works, and i can refine it.

For the heat exchanger, i spaced the radiator back, and put a slight angle on it. I cut up and extended the top brackets, and the heat exchanger is mounted off the tabs into rivnuts i put in the chassis rails. This way it did not require any cutting, apart from a slight notch in the upright for the latch assembly. There is high density insulation foam between the exchanger core and radiator to help prevent heat transfer. I have not yet put a fan on the heat exchanger, partially due to laziness, and partly to see how the core holds up with just airflow, so i can work out how many/how big the fans will be needed.

The pump is a bosch cobra unit. I decided to mount it as low as possible, to try and prevent cavitating to coolant. I put two rivnuts through the back of the spare wheel well, and the pump is held in place with a billet fuel pump bracket. There is a big plate that is part of the front subframe that protects the pump from getting damaged.

I welded up some backets with 3mm stainless steel strap to mount the cooler, and knocked together the pipework quickly, as time constraints applied in me getting this done. The core is slightly angled in the photo, as i was in the process of bleeding up the system when this photo was taken.

I am running motul mocool in the system with distilled water. I have it slightly stronger than the quoted 20:1 dilution, but this just means as i bleed the system a bit more i will only be adding straight water.

I also quickly secured my motec temporarily, as it has been loose on the boot floor up until this point (hopeless i know.)

And some quick snaps of the exhaust i made with some work mates one sunday afternoon. The tip is a comical 4inch, which was due to the muffler used (varex.) the car sounds civilised with the varex shut, bt with it open it's around 91db at idle, 100db at 4,000rpm and around 110 at 8,500rpm (just before the limiter)

I would have come for the arthurs seat run on sunday, but i realized too late it had been organised. The car has very rough paint, on a club rub a few years ago i didn't want to park it anywhere near RDs lol. I will defenitely try and make it out for the next cruise.
