EDIT 3 ** - Added Dropbox link to 250MB file of info to negotiate the no pics issues in EDIT 1; PLUS, bought the JEEP separately, so EDIT 2 is no longer..! EDIT 2 ** I'd consider a swap for a 2dr 2005/2006 JEEP Wrangler Golden Eagle & $15,000 my way, if the JEEP was in good knick, with the usual extras (big wheels/lifted/jungle flares/light rail/roof rack/etc - for me and my dog :) )** EDIT 1 - This attach images set up is a nightmare - PM me if you can help? I've made a pdf doc with description and pics in it but cannot upload... Happy to send pics and get the ad up in proper format - no-one likes no pics... :( Hi Guys,
Well, it’s been a great road, but the time has come to move on and find a worthy home for “Little Red”, my TRD 2000GT widebody with 3.0 litre turbo charged V6 conversion,
OFFERS over $25,000.00It’s been a long while since I was an active/regular (almost daily!) poster on the forum, so the following is basically a summary of everything I can think of to seek expressions of interest from anyone seriously wanting to buy my car.
Original Engine build thread here:

https://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=61208Original Project Thread here:
https://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=20720 The project started in 2010, after I snap my knee playing football and was basically sofa bound for about 3 months. During that time I devised, and drew up the plans for the project, which were largely based upon the Toyota TRD super widebody demonstrator vehicle, itself a road-going version of the Japanese track racing version of the SW20 vehicles:

BODY WORK - TRD CUSTOM WIDEBODY 2000GTThe base kit was fitted by Bruce Sullivan, Fibrevision, and modified to achieve 40mm extra width in the rear quarter panels, with a more horizontal arch profile line than the standard TRD widebody kit; the front fender profiles were also raised to horizontal. This significantly changes the body lines, making the stance more aggressive. The angles are different, and a comparison is better seen rather than explained - example pics of the standard TRD kit on the left, pics of the finished bodywork on the right:

The bodywork was completed in July 2011 and sent to Tristan Hewitt at WTF Autos in Kelmscott, who prepared the car for pits inspection/rego to ensure the bodywork, Rogue low-rise quad head light kit (UK) and rims were fully approved.
RIMSRims are a special case – the additional width added to the rear quarter panels meant BIG wheels were required to fill the space and look “right”; Original TRD spec. had 17 x 7JJ +13 offset Fronts and 17 x 8.5JJ +7 offset, though basic rolling diameter calcs made the standard TRD Alumi-K spec wheels look anaemic. To fit the 40mm wider rear arches, and fill the slightly wider than standard front fenders, a custom staggered set of Rays VOLKS GTS in gunmetal were manufactured in the USA and sent to us, with 18 x 8 +20 in the fronts, and 19 x 10.5” -2 offset in the rear.

Under normal circumstances, there are limits to how much you can increase track width and rolling diameter, which would otherwise negate what we’ve managed to achieve, when modifying a standard MR2 SW20. As the vehicle is a TRD 2000GT (replica), and that the original TRD kit was a manufacturer offered original vehicle, direct from factory, is essentially a variant. We tracked down and purchased original copies of the TRD documentation from a collector in the UK, and were able to use the base TRD spec wheels/tyres/track widths to establish the setup, which is a specific written/approved modification item in the DoT vehicle registration documents.

In practice, arch clearances are no issue on all 4 corners, with no scuffing/rubbing under full lock/cornering load - tested and approved for rego.
INTERIORWhilst the bodywork was being carried out, I was busy gathering parts - the interior has had a full refit, with both seats, centre panel, storage box, gear gaiter, steering wheel/indicator assembly surround, doorcards and sun visors all re-clad in red stitch black leather. Moulded 3-gauge dash mounted pod assembly sits on top, holding the original TRD oil temp/oil pressure/boost gauges, wired into the original TRD race tracking unit housed in the centre console; The unit collects data from the gauges which can be output via USB.

The car has aftermarket water temp gauge fitted onto a flat black panel where stereo used to go; with late-model TRD steering wheel ($1,000~).
BRAKESWilwood big brake kit sourced from Wolfkatz, USA installed – 330mm front, 300mm rear, slotted brake discs, with Wilwood calipers on front, and late model 93T SW20 turbo calipers on the rears; we fitted the master cylinder and brake booster set up from the late-model (95 onwards) MR2 SW20 3S GTE models, and connected the whole affair using braided steel hoses.

V6 TURBO ENGINE CONVERSIONThe engine conversion happened between July and December 2012. The formal application was submitted 18 JUL 2012 to Department of Transport and we received Approval in Principle to proceed in 22 AUG, 1 month later. The outgoing 3S GTE engine (still in great condition) was removed and sold, and the incoming V6 1MZ-FE block was installed, mated to custom Garret 3071 turbo charger, and managed via Haltech EC11. The original crate motor came from a 2000 Camry Avalon, with 10,000kms and had had a previous life as the block for Tristans’ Burninator, a 550rwhp twin sequential turbo build – I found this for anyone interested -

Am sure some of you guys will know Tristan well 😊
The V6 base block was entirely rebuilt, as per pics/specs, and rebuilt using the same spec list, turned down a notch or six(!) to single turbo; largely because I needed to keep the boot/firewall for compliance, and as the car was my daily driver!!

Exhaust is Magnatec 3” high flow with custom pipework to sui V6 application; Engine mates to the existing E153 gearbox via OZ Giken STR Twin Plate clutch – the engine/gearbox combination has about 16,000 kms on it; The gearbox has a total 164,000 kms on it and is absolutely rock solid.
I’ve probably over-spec’d and overbuilt everything, to serve the intention to have safe, reliable power, without pushing it beyond it’s means or limits. But that’s how I wanted it, and the proof is 5 years on she still runs reliably and well, and is a LOT of fun.
Initial tune at commissioning/handover showed 304 rwhp on a conservative 12PSi, designed to let me get used to the wall of torque Tristan had created. The engine and block are forged rods and pistons, and were previously in the Original output curves shown here, along with original 1MZ-FE spec. To describe it as a first experience, the tacho increases in first and second gear at the same rate as the speedometer’s km/hr.

This has since been replaced with Haltech E2000 Platinum unit, with recent tune by Justin at bye performance output shown/attached below…This is perhaps my final gift to the potential new purchaser 😊

ADDITIONAL BITS, PARTS, COLECTORS ITEMSThe car comes with:
- Fully Approved Paperwork, Engineers Report, All Documentation (Extensive!);
- Road Registered ~9 Months Rego;
- Original TRD Widebody Toyota Manufacturer Sales Brochures;
- A full set of MR2 Magazines (UK);
- Full box of Receipts and Invoices - > $150,000 spent over 5 years ownership, regular servicing etc;
- Raybrigs Fog lights;
- Too much more to catalogue, though I will include for posterity when I add some images, hopefully after work today;
I’ve priced it to sell - I know I’ll never get what it owes me, but that’s not why you start with these projects – hopefully it’s a one of those moments where the “timing is right” – I’m ready to move it on to a good home, and a good home is out there somewhere, looking for a project race car or modded daily driver.
In both cases, this TRD 2000 GT project is finished, legal, fully documented, has a very decent amount of very useable power in an everyday driver setup, probably capable of much more. Some of the primary contributors to this site can attest to my character and the lengths I’ve gone to in the build.
If there are any questions, please feel free to post – let’s see what’s out there
Thanks for reading
