Turbo charged 1MZ-FE Build Thread
Hi All,
I am currently building a turbo charged 1MZ-FE for install into a custom widebody SW20, build thread here:
http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=20720, so have started an engine build thread to document the experience. The target power output is ~400rwhp for a reliable daily driver, and weekend track car.
The donor engine was a crate motor delivered from Toyota, though has had a previous life in a 550rwhp twin sequential turbo system set up, designed, built and tested by Tristan of WTFautos here in Perth. The engine itself has 10,000km on it, and the component list looks something like this:
Base engine – Majority new crate motor minus ancillaries (A/C, Alternator)
Air conditioner compressor, Alternator, associated brackets
Toyota gasket kit
ARP head stud set custom order
ARP main stud set custom order
Spool forged connecting rods
CP forged pistons
All bottom end bearings
Headwork including removal of excess quench areas, valve seat blending, port radius etc
Post headword machining, valve seat cutting, clearance setting and assembly
Fuel rail modification for return style regulator & injector seat modification incl custom mounts
680cc SARD injectors
‘Performance springs’ valve springs
Haltech E11V2 ECU including full harness
Custom built stainless steel exhaust manifolds & crossover pipe
Ceramic coating on exhaust components
GT3071 turbocharger
Modified cooling system modifications numerous
HKS Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel lines
Heater pipe modifications
Engine block machining
Engine internal balancing
Piston crown modification by CNC
Connecting rod modification suit V6 application
Block modification suit transmission etc
Assembly including clearance testing, torque cycling
Sump modification suit turbocharger
Oil & coolant lines for turbocharger including adapters
Hall effect engine position sensor & trigger wheel
Custom side engine mount to suit V6 into SW20
Clutch & flywheel including flywheel modification to suit V6
Exhaust system from turbo to tip
Intercooler system & pipework & thermo fan
Turbo suction pipe & air filter
Turbo wastegate actuator & unmodified exhaust housing
Driveshaft modification to suit V6 driveshaft carrier
Dakota Digital SGI-8 Tachometer Interface Unit
Proposed completion date for the build/installation is October 2011, pending successful engine conversion application (WA Regulations) and engineer's certificate.
