Carmikey Any updates in regards to MTC 2017 Steve? Would love to know... If it looks like its a no goer, it will make considerable changes to my car(s) / arrangements & plans. Also, if WP is not viable or available etc, has any thought been discussed in regards to a backup plan, maybe string a few tracks days together & still all meet annually? Possibly changes to the annual dates? Oct sometime would probably be a good time for most people & their work organisations? Not sure just throwing it out there. Any feedback from WP in running the event again in 2017?
Hello Mike, Sorry for the late reply. I have pre occupied with too much work! At this stage I will be putting something to Wakefield Park the week after Easter as I will have some down time. We have not had any feedback as yet. When we have a chat the picture will become clearer but there were no noises of issue so expect all is ok. I would like to see it continue as I have to actually run my car at the event at some stage. As all the key issues have now been resolved there is a strong chance it will be there. If it does not work out with WP we can organize a tour of a few of the tracks in the south. Even if MTC does happen (which is the preferred option), we can still organize a trip to Sandown/Broadford/Winton/Phillip Island or something of the likes. Jumping on someone else's band wagon would be an option. No doubt incorporating something with the Nationals would be the sane thing to do but will have to see how that one turns out.
Thanks for the reply Steve, book me in for the LOT.. what ever it turns out to be!

Hello everyone, I have made some progress with MTC 2017. After discussions with Broadford Circuit this facility will be a part of MTC 2017. They have increased track density which works for us so we can have plenty of track time for up to 60 cars. A hillclimb used by the Victorian Hillclimb Championships can be utilized so we can still have out alterative layouts. I will having a closer look(visit the facility) in the next week to see if I can come up some something more creative outside of the two layouts. We will run the same format as MTC 2013/2014/2015/2016 but at a different facility. There is no accommodation onsite but there is a camp ground so we can camp out in tents, bbq, etc. This is located right behind the track so track walks are on the cards. I will also look into local accommodation for groups so we can continue what Wakefield has provided until now. As its a lot of effort for many, I will be working out access to Sandown, SMP, Marulan and PI to make it a pilgrimage for many. Wakefield is an option for 2018 but at this stage, I feel I need a break from the facility. I will also confirm timing in the coming weeks. If MR2 Nationals are interested in co-operating, I would be comfortable with organizing MTC around the Nationals for the benefit of everyone.

Admin That sounds awesome!
Thanks mate. I hope its well received. As its a track that no one has driven (Does Trav count??), it will be a very level playing field. If we get the numbers, we can run Sandown as part of MTC with costing for both tracks around the 600 mark. Sandown will include all the garages too. The camping option is $10 per night at Broadford. Its a real easy drive from Sydney. I do it often due to work. As for PI, I have been talking to someone who may entertain a joint event. Will have more in this in the coming weeks. This would be epic if it all comes together.

This sounds like it's going to be an awesome time! Much closer for the SA guys, Melbourne is only 8-ish hours away. Broadford and Sandown sounds like an awesome time out! PI potentially on top as well? what more could we ask for? Looking forward to more updates :)

An hour south. PI is another hour or so south of Sandown.

it's amazing how you can fit it all in. been right around oz in a aw11 and across countless times. though i would love to build a tear drop camper to tow behind on the long trips for added comforts. haha

Thanks mate, I will do my best but we have a great crew which make it a reality. If I can get the timing right, we will do: - The open practice day at SMP ($160)no staffing at this one, just come and drive with everyone
- Dinner at Cricketers Arms which is behind the track
- Then a timed sprints at Marulan (140km south and $160) which is run by the facility. Again no staffing just join in for a fun day. This will be the first round of MTC 2017
- Rest the night then drive to Broadford for a few days for the third leg of MTC 2017
- Rest day
- Sandown for the fourth leg of MTC 2017
- Finish at PI (based on what we can organize with another crew)
I figure we will need some sort of support vehicle to carry everyone's gear who cannot fit it in a MR2. We should be able to sort this out. I wonder if I could offer a few laps in my car to the winner of MTC 2017? Would that help motivate people to take on such a big commitment (and I do not mean being pushed around the carpark by everyone else!)?
