2GR MR2 - Need help desperately!

Hi Guys

Having problems with my 2GR swap - car was an NA JDM originally (1990)

Basically I had a loom modified to suit the swap. due to the distance between us, he cant make it to help me and we are both out of ideas. Long story short I have to drive to MTC next week and I need this car to start

Whats happening is this
1. Immobilizer will not disarm
2. No OBD scanner, even the Toyota ones, will read anything.

My mate who is a toyota technician came over last night and we checked every wire between the ecu, the OBD plug and immobiliser.

They appear to go to the correct locations and have correct resistance.

The key, transponder key ecu, barrel, antenna and ecu are all from the same car. I have tried to handshake the two with no sucess.

Whats more concerning for me is that the OBD reader does not get anything from the ECU.

Does anyone have any ideas? I just want my car to start :/

Thanks,

-Eric

With ignition on do you have 12 Volts at pin 16 on your OBDII socket.  I assume it's OBDII.

Many of the conversions I see don't have the 12 Volts and hence no readings from OBD scanner.
If you do have the 12 volts and the scanner is power up and you can't communicate with the ecu its very likely that the engine won't start.

Find out first why you can't communicate with your ecu.  Fix that first and the engine might start.

Sorry not much help I know. I wish this was my problem as I'd love to troubleshoot it and get it going.

Best of luck getting it going for the track day.

Can you borrow another ecu to try? I've been waiting to see this car at Wakefield and it'd be so disappointing to not have it going in time.

I have already lent my complete ecu, immobiliser, lock key. etc. which all came from the one running aurion.
Has to be a circuit not bridged or sensor not accounted for in the loom. ( auto trans, body control  etc.)

It may not be an immobiliser problem....
If the 2GR originally had an auto gearbox, then it could be a neutral/park gearbox sensor not allowing it to start?

It would be worth checking all the voltages as per this thread.. (unless you've already done this)
    http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=39415
particularly the NSW (neutral/park switch signal) as the motor wont crank without the correct signals.

The motor cranks but I get no spark or injection

the security light just pulses as it would if it was immobilised

Do you have the unlock warning switch from the original key barrel wired into the transponder ECU?

Yes I have the switch in place and hooked up.

Tom, did you do the wiring yourself for the 2GR?
