Good driving. That looked like a blast, and I'm so surprised you kept up with the Commie ute in the start of the video.

One question I have: I noticed you never rev-matched when you downshifted. Is it not necessary to rev-match your high RPM downshifts? I've always done it as a "just in case" even when daily driving (so not all the time, only when a light changes on me and I need to go down to 3rd without compression braking for example)

Normally I do, This part of the video I didn't. It was my first time with the Mr2 and I was trying to baby it. As you can see in the video my 3rd gear crunches every time so my syncross aren't that healthy. And I'm due for new clutch. I did t thing it will handle the track day but it did.

I honestly didn't hear the crunching. I know what you mean, I'm a little too scared to go to a track day - keep scaring myself that the car will die or something (even though I've taken it for spirited mountain runs that have lasted 1-1.5 hours at a time..)

Tracks are just scary in general haha

No way don't be scared you will love it.
Just put new oil new brake fluid check the coolant and plugs, new pads.and off you go.
I did all that and put some semi slick. And my car is all std with factory rusty exhaust with hole in it.
I was out handling few Toyota 86 and golf gti and many more. I just didn't have the top end power. But had so much fun.
Do it so it do it

Nice driving, just goes to show you don't need big power to have fun! Sometimes people think they need a perfectly sorted car with big power before they will consider taking it to the track, but really you will have fun in any car and it just makes you a better driver if you have to work harder for it. It's amazing how well a N/A sw20 keeps up, except maybe on the straights, but the corners are more fun anyway!

you right about the big power, its so much more fun around corner. i still need a little more corner exit power.
I'm searching for options to get more power from NA. and i have been reading some say don't wast your money.
but i really like NA. i can only spend 2-3k if anyone has better idea then me please tell me how and and who can do it.

For 2-3k if you want to stay N/A, a Gen 3 3SGE OR Beams engine may be the way to go. I'm not the most mechanically minded so I can't say what N/A mods would be best $ per hp gained

I'd also say V6, as you can find an old Avalon, etc. and rip out the 1MZ (2GR is definitely out of reach). Not sure how much that'd cost you in the end though

$1500 is good price but I read somewhere if it's from ST there is a lot to do to make it in to the rear of mr2. Plus you still need a lot more parts to make it ready. if it's from mr2 it's straight bolt on. I'll keep looking for now for options and see what happens I just need that extra 20-30 kW and I think I'll be happy with what I have. We all like power but for what I have and what I can do with it. It it will still put a big smile on my face.

Yeah, my MR2 Beams half cut cost around $4000, so it's not cheap unfortunately..
