Yea I had a sneak peak while I had it all apart, shouldn't be too much to soldering new globes in. I only ever get my LED's from https://www.superbrightleds.com/ but they're super expensive and postage is a b**ch from the US. DO NOT USE THEIR CAR SELECTOR though because I did this, got the wrong globes and cue a month of e-mails back and forth before they gave up and said its too expensive to return them just keep the globes and we'll credit you the cost of them. I'll try to make up a list of globes I got so people looking in my thread know the ones that work.

I was only thinking about the prospect of placing LED's in the tail lights and reverse lights today. Thanks for the links. Might do this sooner rather than later.

I've ordered a set of LED headlight bulbs and Raybrig headlights. not sure i'll be keeping the LED's in but wanted to test them out for ****s and giggles. hopefully they arrive this week so i can get stuck into them.

- Side note: reading your post last night I decided to go check if my car has the electronic folding mirrors. turns out it does!. never knew, total win!!.

No problem, just remember to consider if you're going to do the quad tail light upgrade because you need 4 dual filament globes (or equivalent) for that. What type of LED headlights? Are they just an LED globe in standard housing? I've heard mixed reviews from such a set up and if I was going to go LED headlights I'd get a bespoke kit similar to the $500 on that super bright LED's page.

Haha so all this time you never knew what the "retract" button did? Glad to hear I can help in some way :p

Yep, my wife pissed herself when i was smiling up like a big kid. In my defence though i only drove it for roughly 2,000kms before the bottom end let go after buying it. So now my engine is built and turbo is on im kind of reintroducing myself to it.

The led kit i brought is just a cheapie. I want to suss it out purely for interests sake. I learnt the hard way through spending big bucks in led light bars for my utes that i can get great light forcheap price rather than spending up on the brand names... i learnt that after i spent up of course.

So I've been having an issue with boost lately. Sometimes the car will produce 5psi on WOT and at other times it produces 9.5psi on WOT both instances occur on straight stretches of road. Although when going up steep hills obviously I get the full 9.5psi. Initial suspicions lead to an internal boost leak from the old BOV. I purchased a new GFB Response BOV but due to our stupid design I had NitroDann weld the BOV on.

Can confirm while my car does still have an issue at least it sounds awesome now.

Love the sound. Even though it's silly, would love to hear an MR2 BOV-less. Imagine a mad little deuce rolling down the street, "Stutututu"

I loved it too! right up until Highway Patrol pulled me over 2 hours after I fitted the damn thing. I had it set to atmosphere because I was going to a car meet and it was a matter of wrong place wrong time. Fortunately for me I played dumb and asked how I could fix it given that its welded on. The officer sympathised (luckily) and let me off with a warning. It is now very much set to recirc. I didn't want to have it open all the time because it does get annoying I just wanted to have it for another few days till the novelty wore off.

In anticipation of the defect I purchased and overpriced blanking plate for the trumpet outlet of the BOV and have now fitted it so its 110% legal. Normally with the plate in and it set to atmosphere the car should compressor surge (dose) which is essentially BOV-less. However a quick test drive revealed that it just won't happen with my turbo.

"Illegal" car mods are an interesting topic of discussion - some people get booked straight up for something as small as a vent-to-atmosphere BOV meanwhile my the wifeys brother hoons his Evo 8 around that's too low, straight piped, mad wheel poke and has a screamer pipe (so you could always hear him coming since he never leaves boost) and yet has never been ticketed. I suppose it's all "anecdotal" but you always mull the question of 'Is it worth it?'

Sucks about having to use the blanking plate though. Pretty much neutered the glorious turbo noise :(

Yea thats why it was more of a wrong place wrong time incident more-so than hooliganism that cause the officer to drop his big mac and chase me down in the shopping centre lol. It is an interesting topic. BOV atmosphere noises especially. I remember the MCM boys went to Japan and got to discuss road rules with them. When they told the Japanese that we get defected for BOV noise but are allowed to drink some alcohol before driving they were half way between shocked and in laughter at the atrocious system we have. It's upsetting but what can you do *sigh* oh well back to modding.

Little Update: Took the car to the mechanics to see if they could determine what the boosting problem was. They disconnected the wastegate and it built boost all the way to boost cut, which the gauge indicated was around 10psi. I've been told that boost cut on these should be around 13-14, if someone could confirm that'll be awesome. Mechanic seems to think the gauge is faulty and displaying different pressures now and then which causes my placebo of feeling faster or slower. I might have to hunt to see if the vac line is kinked anywhere or try and find another boost gauge to test it.

Did a little digging on this after you sent me a massage about it, and this is what I came up with

Stock boost is around 10psi.
Jdm car, gen2 the fuel cut in the late 91-93 models (15/16psi).
Jdm gen3, stock boost is 13psi, fuel cut around 18/19psi.

Hope that helps.

yep that fuel cut is correct, I have a hks fuel cut defender on my car and it works great, had the boost at 16 psi until I blew the stock turbo now I just run 12psi, I have another hks fuel cut defender if youd like to buy it

Thanks so much Nik_Lee,

I bought a GFB Electronic Boost Controller on the Weekend so this'll sort out my boost issues and I'll get someone in the know to tune it in for me so I can get a much nicer boost curve and more power! I'll probably set the Scramble to 13psi and the normal to 10 or 12psi and gradually change the settings. I'm pretty excited.

Any update on this, have you had it fitted yet and have you noticed a difference?
