Update:

A few of us made it out to an open practise day at Mallala.  Was a great day, weather about 24d too.

It was the bigports first track day out.... it didnt miss a beat :-)

Its big brother (smallport right along side of it) also came along for a side by side challenge.

Couple of small issues on the day.  Smallport needed a new plug in the 1st 15min session, after new spark plugs when it, ran flawless all day as usual ;-)

Bigport - I had a slight scrub issue on the rear passenger side, after coming into the pits, I realised it had popped the passenger side rear shockie, hence the scrub issue.  I ended up replacing the rear 235 / 45 /17 enkeis with a set of 215 / 40 / 17's on the rear & it got me thru the day.  Otherwise it ran faultless for the remainder of the day... I was a little concerned how it would end up as I drove it out to the track & it needed to be driven back home after the event.... still in one piece, but all was well.

BIGPORT best time for the day: 1:28.83 (last session for the day - lap 5... pretty happy with the time considering it was bouncing around everywhere with the blown shocker.

SMALLPORT best time: 1:27.99

NEXT - new set of shockies for the bigport.

Small Update:

Plans ATM is to bring this little aw11 to use along with my other aw11 for MTC 2017 (if MTC happens).

New shocks & boots installed.

Started pulling down the smallport engine I acquired, will rebuild it so its fresh & will replace its existing bigport as its new heartbeat.

There was heaps of carbon build up, lots of evidence of poor maintenance.... oil changes??

Just read though this thread Mike, I should have done so sooner as I could have brought some mk1a rear struts (with Koni yellows) down to MTC.  I upgraded my struts & rear sub-frame to mk1b when I upgraded to SW20 brakes so the mk1a struts and springs are gathering dust.

It would be great to see this car run in IPRASA, being an 85 they don't need to run any intake restriction and would probably be pretty competitive in the <1600 class (with a built engine)!

Right you are, I glossed over the "touring car" part in  the definitions (large font, bold at the top of the bloody page).

Small update:
So I can finally get around to finishing this little smallport rebuild. I'm planning on taking this one over to Wakefield trackday challenge in 2017, so plenty of time to get all ready & sweet.

Currently in surgery..

Finally, a rebuild I dont have to replace the crank shaft.

Purchased a set of 20v extractors for it too ;-)

Parts order time.

This ones is getting ACL race bearing (mains & rods) - ordered..
