EssDub Cruise Control can be retrofitted... I can get OEM kits from the UK ;) What sort of suspension have you chosen to replace those old ones?
Can you get cruise controls for the SW20?

You can, but its more complex. The SMT Spyders had a system that used the drive-by-wire throttle body to great effect, which meant less parts to stuff around with.

I'm not worried about cruise control for mine, honest. Not high on my agenda...

My clutch started playing up at 65k and died completely at 66.5k Mine is also a 2004 with the traction control and stability control and they were the worst, did nothing but always kick in when it was not required. Luckily for me and by a massive miracle after i cleared a airbag code using a actual obd2 reader it turned both permanently off. I do have a lit CEL for both on the dash but have had no issues

Clutches on SMTs generally die earlier than their MT counterparts due to the extra 'slip' that the SMT system generates in order to try and shift smoothly.

Don't let smt codes scare you, as sometimes due to the clutch slipping a few sensors have issues or need a clean. I'm going through it and confident change clutch check sensors, change if needed! As soon as smt throws a code everyone says do a manual swap or 2zz it but I love my smt, not such a scary thing once you understand it! Best of luck with your car and hope you enjoy it as much as most of us spyder owners.
Just a question, how do you know it's a ttr mr2 spyder? Does yours have a plate that states it? I'm interested in knowing what the differences are!

TTR differences were mostly cosmetic, from memory... Leather interior, a fancy badge and not much else? Its been a long time lol

TTR (Toyota Team Racing) is a bit of a joke option.. leather seats, air con, and a badge on the gearshift console... not one real "racing" component involved .... "The TTR Limited Edition MR2 Spyder has the additional features of black leather interior trim, air conditioning and TTR emblem. It has a recommended retail price of $48,988*, which represents $2700 worth of additional value over standard MR2 Spyder." http://www.autoweb.com.au/cms/A_101176/title_Toyota-Launches-TTR-Limited-Editions/newsarticle.html

LOL. Given that A/C was standard on all ADM Spyders, that's amusing :D

Least they could have done and offered a turbo, or something cool. Also don't understand having leather seats in a convertible especially in australia weather unless you enjoy the feeling of being burnt lol

Actually, there was a company in Europe who did actually make a warranty-backed turbo kit for the Spyder (that was covered under a Toyota Factory Warranty!) and it went well. Was extortionately expensive, but the 6psi or so it provided gave the car enough 'go' to make it fun. Something like 175whp or something...

That was TTE. Great addition to the car, but yes, quite expensive (even second hand, now). The difference between that and some other turbo kits though was a factory like fit. Not half a kit, or stuff that "should" fit. Guess the R&D bumped the price.
