Nice work Rick. Looks like you are on track to be 'on track'! Look forward to see the S.A. crew and their cars in a few short weeks.

The Beams is a really tidy engine, it doesn't have all the vacuum lines and stuff that the old 3sge has running everywhere. It also sounds heaps better.

Very clean SW20 you have there. If you think it sounds additive stock you'll probably end up behind bars with a pod filter :P

Nice find! Are there Bathurst-specific diagrams in there too? Might have to hit you up for a photocopy one day...

No, I've just discovered differences, even with the supplements. There must be newer supplements that i haven't got... I'll see if i can get my hands on them...

Quick update... I just did a 200km round trip to Streaky Bay and back. The car ran brilliantly. I'm amazed at the power and responsiveness of the Beams. It's fantastic for a small capacity NA engine. The sound as you wind it out to redline in 3rd gear is addictive. I didn't do that of course, as that would have seen me exceed the speed limit, and i wouldn't go that on a public road :P The engine seems to be still building power when the Rev limiter cuts in. Unfortunately, when i got home there was a lot of smoke coming from the engine bay and underneath the car. It appears that i have a leaking seal on the transmission where the drivers side axle goes in. I assume i damaged it when i did the changeover. It doesn't leak when the car is stationary, but over a long trip with high speeds up to, ummm, 120kmh, the axle rotation obviously sprayed transmission fluid everywhere. I checked the level of fluid, and don't appear to have lost much, but even a little bit seems to make a mess lol.
Time to order a couple of axle gearbox seals before MTC.

Great to hear you've been out and about in it. I thought you'd like the extra power and responsiveness of the BEAMS. I did a couple of hundred K's in mine today too, as I do most weekends. Still love the motor as much as the day I put it in, if not more! Hope you get the seals sorted soon so you can put the tools down and just enjoy it, without smoke

I just made a custom mount for my front Contour camera. It's much better than having a suction cup stuck on your windscreen, blocking your view. This sits totally behind the mirror, so it doesn't distract me at all. I've got it powered from the interior light wiring, so i don't have to worry about batteries going flat. I've also replaced the axle seal on the transmission, so no more oil leaks :)

rikkir Dishonest Hong Kong EBay sellers! My Beams half cut was advertised with on 47,000kms on it. They included the speedo which shows that reading. Since i received it i discovered old service stickers on it, the newest showing the next service due at 152,000kms or by 1/6/2014. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vwkqkls660m6ygn/IMAG0673.jpg (the date on the pic uses the Japanese dating system if your wondering why the year shows 25) To be honest i wasn't surprised, i actually was expecting to find something like this. It actually makes the engine closer to my chassis which has now done 130,000kms. It's just disappointing that these companies have to be so dishonest. I would have bought it anyway. Just serves as a warning for everyone not to believe what is advertised. The engine and all components supplied do look to be in good condition so far :)
My race car is an unregisterable import and it had around 60,000 on the clock. I stripped the engine and found that the main bearings were down to the brass and the big end bearings were just about to let go. I reckon it was 260,000 real kms on that car. Never trust low kms from an importer. I've heard soooooo many stories like this.
