Tree Interesting I will have to read up on thay EV Sera guy's thread sometime. Yes I almost forgot the car can't be completely zero emissions if the electricity didn't come from renewable; currently solar and wind being easiest to obtain domestically but most of the driving is done during the day... I have read that ethanol produces a different type of emission but that can be filtered. I guess I can understand the need for 98 may not be as in demand in those regional areas but I would have thought most modern ICE cars have a knock sensor to retard the timing?
Yep knock sensor will retard the timing, but it's still not enough to run a 98-only car on 95RON, a complete retune is needed. The number of 98-only cars is pretty thin on the ground though, usually only deals with Imports which are still tuned to run on Japan's awesome 100RON GoFast(tm) juice. Just so happens I had an aussie delivered 98-only soobie though, because running trim was identical to the JDM version, and even with the ADM tune it was still not conservative enough for 95. You just learn to live with it though, make sure you have a 3G connection and run something like the BP app on your phone, or do your research before you head out into rural areas. I drove ACT to Adelaide and back, didn't really need to deviate anywhere to get BP Ultimate, just planned my fuel stops so I knew I could drive to the next station in less than 600kms. Exige would be a lot more logical choice, but for those that love competition audio and show cars, they wouldn't look twice at a nice Exige compared to an over the top, vulgar MR-S modified to barely resemble what it used to be. Funny crowd they are.

2GR supercharged is the complete opposite to a high revving NA, the power band is down low and you have instant torque on tap thanks to the SC. NA's you have to thrash the **** out of them to get them INTO the power band, let alone keeping them there. Also doesn't matter if you have some trick valvetrain, your lubrication system won't handle anywhere near those revs without reverting to non-street legal, race technologies. Why not just buy a bike engine, like a Hayabusa, they rev to like 15k? Oh yeah that's right, you can't street legally drive one of those either. Considering you won't even be able to drive such a car for a few years, why are you even throwing around these ideas? You're basically talking out your ass ;) You aren't a billion dollar car manufacturer who can turn out a concept car, you are a 19 year old with no expenses in life so your apparent high income leaves you with way too much disposable cash. You remind me of a guy I used to work with, reckoned he was never going to buy a house because he could just get a loan for an Audi R8 instead, since they were cheaper.

Maj is spot on here! All talk and no real action
Don't put the motor in now. If you are intent on building somthing crazy take your time then drop it in when you're off your opens
Honestly put a stock motor in and learn to drive the car FAST. Don't just compensate lack of skill with more power.

You have to understand from our perspective a lot of this sounds like a joke.
You're talking about hydrogen powered cars, F1 valve train systems for super high rpms in a street car. Alot of people come on here, have this fantastic idea about how they're going to do this AMAZING conversion and build, then they dissapear or sell up and buy somthing more expensive
Or you do a totenkopf and build a mental mr2 and then upgrade to a lotus :)

Personally I hope this thread never ends because it is the funniest sh!t I have ever read, I love it!!! :) It is hilarious. "If you ask me cam shafts, timing chain and valve springs are out dated technology!" LOL, talk of revving to 20,000rpm on a street car, WTF??? Dream car being a MRS, LOL this sh!t is hilarious!!! Then the best part, moving out of custom bikes into custom cars, its like pimp my ride cars LOL !!! Xibit is going to bust out soon.

Yeah I do understand where your coming from but I am just throwing a few ideas out there to make it interesting and its good for people to jump in and throw some insight in I didn't know much about LPG vs other fuels like e85 ect till I came on here so Why bag me out for having ideas if we didn't think this way we wouldn't of evolved from monkeys

Were not bagging you out for ideas, were bagging you out for not doing research prior. If you looked into it before hand your questions would have been answer without the mockery

Well I too hope this thread doesn't end and I dunno about you guys but I see nothing wrong with what Buzza posted about all these alternative ideas. Actually I thought the MR2 crowd was prone to "weird" ideas considering MR2s are the "different" choice. Come on guys this is a forum and as MR2 owners we should be more supportive :) Buzza just wanted to bounce ideas off us which is okay right since this is a forum? If he was asking what a phillips screwdriver was then I'd probably tell him to go home. Lets be honest, not a lot of 19 year olds think like this; about alternative engines/fuels etc most are too busy getting smashed on the weekends so we have to commend him for that at least :) Buzza mate I'm happy to continue hashing out so feel free to PM EDIT: seems like there's some missing posts after going thru my email...

He can say whatever he likes and come up with as many far out ideas as he wants - as soon as he posts a pic up of himself in that car we'll know it's not trolling. Just very similar to our other friend turbodosebro.
