You could always mount the led strip just under the bumper lower lip, should be stealthy. whatever you do, i would make it reversible, ie dont go cutting up the bumper or anything like that. Cheers

yeah im not cutting anything yet except for maybe the gen 2 panel, which i can get hold of again without much hassel. also i dont think the LED lights may be enough to pass off as a reverse light, unless they are super bright.

Why not use LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS (DRLs) are your reverse light(s), you can get them anywhere these days in a variety of different shapes etc. They are ****off bright too. DISCLAIMER: Refer to the relevant AUSTRALIAN DESIGN RULES (ADRs) for placement of reverse lights.

The early centre panel in those pics looks ok, except that gap in the top corners doesn't look quite right.

Like the others have said, DRL can be plenty bright. And generally reverse lights provide useless light to see with, more for being seen to be in reverse. If you want to get really functional leds, you can make your own with optics that will throw the ligth the way you want it. pretty cheap to do, most people DIY for bicycle lights etc, and bit that is usually the trickiest for a bike (adequate battery power source) is not an issue in the car. Cheers

I was referring to the gap in the top corner of the centre panel that doesn't cover the top corner of the later model lights properly. Even after you make the cutouts, the early centre panel is not really long enough to cover the top of the later model lights. The bottom corners are not so critical. But if you can't notice it then maybe it won't bother you.

Has anyone looked into this anymore? Or have a larger picture of the centre panel once cut? Was thinking about removing the [MR2[ Badge from Gen2 Centre Garnish and mounting a reverse light there... Otherwise, its buying the boot lock - which is $100(New from Toyota) and getting it reset for my own key.

Personally, i'd be looking at building some LED lights into the centre panel. Even if that required cutting into the gen 2 panel. Get some flexible LED strips and come up with a different light arrangement :P
Also.... purple5ive... if you decide to stick with the gen 2 panel... can i buy your boot lock? :D

I saw on mr2oc the reverse LED light being the MR2 on the centre panel. It looked good but whether or not thats classified as reverse lights is another story.

The led light where the mr2 logo is would be awsome idea I'm sure it can be made to work.
