a bit of your info is misleading there. you only listed the front wheel and tyre sizes.
ARL rev IV and rev V have the 125KW motor. you can tell by the additional resonator on the intake pipe.
rev. III models have the 129kw motor.

Ah thanks mate, guess redbook ain't so accurate after all...

But could you explain the discrepancy between the weights, especially the 95+? It's killing me cos I'm about to buy a 94...100kg is just too much!

Cheers

Moved from other thread.

This could possibly be a very stupid queston but how do i determine what year my MR2 is.

From this thread I have gathered it to be a Revision 1 - just interested to know the actual year, its on none of paper work I have for the work, and would be helpful when car is going for rego at beginning of next month.

Revision 1
December 1989 to December 1991
Chassis JT163SW2000000001 to JT163SW2000059265

I have always assumed it to be a 1989 as its frame number is 000005811

I have the original technical specifications (scanned) requested from Toyota Australia of ADM SW20 MR2s for years 90 94 95 96 98. If anyone wants I can email it to them since I can't seem to upload them.

P.S Apologies for previous post - Redbook specs are not all correct. In fact don't rely on Redbook like I did.

@chase_d - If you are in Victoria you can try Vicroads' vehicle history report and enter the VIN or find the previous rego and go from there.

hmmm dont mean to upset the apple cart but your gen 1&2 info is wrong. aside from the below trims there were differences between the revisions including the stereo and the brakes, which were upgraded in '92 not 93' as commonly thought (only some 92 cars got good brakes as it was a mid-year change)

Japanese market trim levels:
G with a NA 2.0L 3S-GE engine producing 165 PS (121 kW; 163 hp); with an A/T standard and an optional M/T. The G was the base model of the SW20 line-up. Standard features were: climate control, electric mirrors, fabric door/seat trim.
G-Limited with the NA 2.0L 3S-GE engine; an A/T was standard or a M/T was optional. The G-Limited was the higher-specification naturally-aspirated SW20. Additional standard features: electric folding mirrors, steering fog lamps, and rear spoiler.
GT-S with a turbocharged 2.0L 3S-GTE engine producing 221 PS (163 kW; 218 hp); a M/T was the only choice. The GT-S had the same standard features as the G-Limited.
GT with the turbocharged 2.0L 3S-GTE engine and manual transmission. The GT was considered as the luxury specification in the SW20 line-up and had suede/leather door and seat trim in addition to G-Limited standard features.
European market trim levels:
Coupe with the NA 2.0L 3S-FE engine producing 138 hp (103 kW) (not available with T-bar roof).
GT Coupe with the NA 2.0L 3S-GE engine producing 154 metric horsepower (113 kW; 152 hp).
GT T-Bar with the NA 2.0L 3S-GE engine.
There were no turbo models officially imported to the European market, however many Japanese models were imported via the grey market.
U.S. market trim levels:
MR2 with a NA 2.2L 5S-FE engine producing 130 hp (97 kW) and offered with a four-speed A/T or five-speed M/T.
MR2 Turbo with a turbocharged 2.0L 3S-GTE engine producing 200 hp (149 kW), offered only with a 5-speed M/T (offered solely with the T-bar roof after early 1993).

That's interesting about the brakes. I've got a later model '93 which incorporates some REV 3 changes as well. Does that mean there's actually 3 versions of the REV 2?

December 1991 - Mid 1992: Original REV 2

Mid 1992 - Mid 1993: Upgraded brakes & 15" wheels?

Mid-1993 - Nov 1993: Upgraded brakes as before, REV 3 transmission & suspension. REV 2 engine and exterior details. (Like mine)

OR did the mid 1992 REV 2 get the mechanical changes as well? i.e. 2 variations of the REV 2?

Also mine is a '93 GT-S with cloth interior, climate control, steering fog lights, electric mirrors BUT they don't electronically fold. So that last feature must've been an option for my sub-revision.

It's all too confusing [xo]
